I have to admit that the Spring Break this year totally crept up on me. I am not mentally prepared for this at all. TWO weeks of trying to keep working, keep my house clean and keep 3 kids happy. I just survived a week with all three home sick…I am not ready for this. I really feel like this break has rushed up on me…I am not in that full on mom/holiday headspace at all. I feel as if the enemy has the upper hand. Aieeee.
I envy those families who get to fly away to exotic climes for the break. I also (sort of) envy those whose break is totally filled with day camps and other activities…alas the budget does not cover these options for us.
We do have a date with the PlayDome tomorrow, which is a fun way to kick of the break for the kids. Especially with our dicey weather.
We also have tickets for the new Muppet Movie and the kids are looking forward to that, but that is about it. My main goal (apart from not losing my mind) is to make sure they are NOT glued to their electronic devices the entire time NOR ripping each others heads of. This will be a challenge I am sure.
But a challenge I have to keep at. I find that the many scientific journals about electronics (video games, etc) are true when it comes to behavior, sleep and focus. I have a rule about only books allowed after 8:30 on school nights but am not looking forward to dealing with this over the holidays. Any suggestions would be welcome.
I hope the weather is okay for some of it. I love seeing the kids head outside for their entertainment. Another project we (me) are working in is getting them in the kitchen more. I have been ‘encouraging’ them to cook more for themselves and letting them suggest items to tackle. On the electronic side, we have been discussing them doing video game reviews. Tara is very keen and has asked to do a review of her new character for the Disney Infinity – Elsa. So watch for that.
On another unrelated note….I am wondering if I should close the comments down for this post. It is my most visited post EVER and it is getting silly how serious some people are taking it. It was never meant as a serious thing…merely an observation from a sleep deprived mom who has had THREE kids worth of cartoons to watch. People…..really.
