In July, thanks to the kindness of the people behind Booty Camp Fitness, I survived 8 sessions of jumping, crunching and other various instruments of torture that our dear instructor could come up with to get our blood flowing and our muscles aching.
It worked. I lost ten inches around my plump frame. I felt great. This despite missing sessions and then spraining my ankle in a spectacular fashion that crippled me for over three weeks.
But then everything seemed to go off the rails. The sprained ankle didn’t help…it was making me miserable. Everyone in the family seemed to be sick, including me and so my enthusiasm wained and I could feel the ten inches creeping back.
I was supposed to do another four weeks in August (for free!)….but I just couldn’t do it. I had missed the first session and the ‘urge’ to work out was fading….and I felt myself feeling bad about my figure and what the comforting chocolate and ice cream was doing to any sort of weight loss or fitness goals.
I was feeling sorry for myself and teetering on depression. I just wanted me and the family to lighten up and get through what was a bit of a downer summer. Compared to other families…nothing tragic hit us. We were all relatively healthy..but an air of dissatisfaction has hung over the House Crunch and cast a pall over the usual summertime fun. It hasn’t felt ‘fun’ enough.
Lack of sleep will do that to you…..thanks Tara.
Despite all that, I cracked open the overburdened credit card and have signed up FOR REAL for another 4 weeks of Booty Camp, starting this Tuesday. Back to school for the kids and back to a firmer resolve for me…..hopefully.
Am not feeling ‘firmer’….but am working on it.
I bought some more work out gear and am determined to use it for that and not lounging on the couch.
I HOPE September and the routines that work and school enforce on us helps us all into a more ‘profitable’ schedule. I hope that everyone getting into the fall groove will help me actually STICK to a fitness program.
I would like to get through the next four weeks seriously and regardless of results hope it pushes me to exploring getting MORE fitness into my life.
My health needs it.
My brain needs it.
My need for jeans needs it.
