Ok….this Valentines for kids thing….I mean really.
I have to buy or make 40 cards for kids AND for the teachers on top of that!
Suuuure the note says you don’t HAVE to have cards for all kids…but you KNOW you do.
I really really dislike Valentines being ‘taught’ this way at schools. Especially for little kids.
I hate it being trumped up into a big deal and a competitive sport. You know…who got the most cards!
When I was a kid we would make cards for our parents in art and then we were allowed to sneak cards into our chosen few fave’s in class and that was it.
Adam is young…he has no clue what it is or why it is a big deal and I would rather it stay that way.
Guess I have to hit the dollar store soon.

When my kids were in preschool I used a rubber stamp with a heart on it and got the kids to stamp each one. Then I would sign their name for them – unless they wanted to. I found that there was way too many cards to keep them entertained.
Making your own simple cards and putting a hershey’s kiss on them was another huge success. It works out to be cheaper than buying the Valentine’s cards and the kids each get a little treat.
