I can’t believe I am rolling into YEAR THREE with Proctor & Gamble. It has been such a rewarding partnership and I am truly honored to work with the brand and their amazing PR and Marketing team who have shown me so much support and understanding. Thank you.
I remember at the first big meeting in Toronto where we were treated to presentations about their top lines. I remember when they introduced the Pod system for Tide. The large container and cute little packets of cleaning power made me uncomfortable. It looked like something that would take up too much room in the landfill and that the pods would not be worth the money for such a set up. Other P&G Moms questioned the safety of the pods around children. This issue sadly keeps coming up with tales of children swallowing the pods. I say to this aspect…like ALL cleaning products, keep them far out of reach of your children. I have storage UNDER my washer and dryer and still keep the pods up high on top and my kids are well beyond mistaking them for candy….it is still chemicals.
But aside from this troubling issue, I have to admit to being absolutely sold on the pod system. I am TERRIBLE for putting too much liquid or powder in the machine and that does away with any money saving when it comes to choosing the right laundry soap. The pods eliminate that. One pod, one wash. Nothing complicated.
Tide Pods already sold me on the Gain scent (I was very dubious about the TV ads), but that is a family favorite.
But now they have figured out another great one… ‘Free & Gentle.’
The Tide Pods Free & Gentle formula is specifically formulated with no dyes and perfumes to be tough on stains and gentle on skin. The film used to manufacture the packs is designed to
dissolve in all water temperatures, hot or cold. This form is designed for any type washing machine (traditional or HE), as well as all loads sizes and temperatures.
For many, allergies and skin sensitivities are a big issue. We are lucky in our family to not have such worries, but I do try to make sure nothing has too heavy or cloying scents. Tide has provided some tips to deal with sensitive skin issues from Dr. Sandy Skotnicki, leading Canadian dermatologist:
1. Avoid fragrances and or botanicals in your daily washing, soaps, detergents and moisturizers, as they can be both irritants and allergens. Test out a detergent like the new Tide Pods Free & Gentle. For people with sensitive skin seeking a detergent free of dyes and perfumes, Tide Pods Free & Gentle provides a deep clean that leaves behind no dyes or perfumes on fabrics, for gentleness on skin.
2. Stick to non-foaming “soaps” in the shower. They do not strip the skin of its natural oils.
3. Only shower or bath once a day. Water dries out the skin.
4. Make sure that you keep bathing times to under 15 minutes and avoid using hot water.
5. After bathing, pat dry. Rubbing your body with a towel will remove moisture and further dry out your skin.
