I was blown away by the great package we received from Crayola this summer. Not just because who doesn’t love fresh packs of crayons, markets and pencils but they also provided me with a fantastic information sheet filled with information about their various products, the colours, and the qualities of their products. Apparently this package is available to teachers who want to get their kids asking questions about art and artistic mediums. The flyer states that:
“Beginning 110 years ago, the first Crayola products were especially designed for schools. The founder’s wife, Alice Binney, was a school teacher who inspired the company to introduce crayons.”
“Crayola believes in the power of art-integrated education. Art improves student engagement and provides hands-on learning to build creativity and critical thinking skills.”
I love art and encourage it in my own home. Today we did owls created from painty foot-prints. I will share the finished products soon. But we usually spend the summer on some art projects, from rock painting to drawing leaves and flowers, you name it.
So don’t forget that art supplies are not just for school….make sure you home is well stocked too.
