An extra long summer this year, thanks to the strife between the Government and the BC Teachers, means more days to find fun activities for the whole family. Thankfully the Greater Vancouver area has a wealth of things to do. One thing we as a family had NEVER done (weird I know!) was visit Splashdown Water Park. Thanks to the folks behind the YVR Bloggers group, I was able to change that and met up with a ginormous gang of fellow bloggers and their families for a great day out.
I am not a big ‘thrill’ ride sort of person so I was always a bit leery of taking the kids to this sort of place. I was thrilled to see just how FAMILY friendly the slides are at Splashdown. In fact the whole place is great for the family. They have loads of green space for parents to set up their basecamps around the slides and while they have plenty of yummy food available, you are welcome to pack in your own picnics too. They even have BBQ’s.
What I loved was that none of the slides are super fast or super scary. Tara was able to enjoy going down most of them with her big brother and of course the little kids section was her favorite….she just kept going and going and going. I was left watching this pink blur race up the stairs and slide down over and over and over. It was perfect for her….she is 5 for your reference.
The park isn’t huge either so I wasn’t concerned about losing track of the two older one’s who were happily away trying out every slide to pick their favorites. Big Jim’s River Run was hands down the favorite for the two older kids mainly because of all the banging around and less of a wait too.
I want to thank our hosts for such a fun day and highly recommend it while the weather is great and the kids have time to kill. Please note, we have very little photos of the day as we were too busy getting wet.
