I have a family of pretty serious gamers, although my husband has relinquished his crown to our son, the interest is still there. Subsequently we have almost every game platform known to man in our household. However, we have noticed is that no matter the new games or platforms, the Nintendo DS’s (in all their shapes and formats) never seem to go away. They are probably the best size and type of portable platform for kids.
My son is pretty hardcore when it comes to his games and tends to stick to the more grown-up stuff – apart from Pokemon. The Pokemon obsession seems to never go away and I think he tends to feel that the DS’s are only for Pokemon as that is all he plays. So I was very interested to see if he would deign to check out TamaDochi Life for me.
He did. This is his review:
My mom received the game TomoDachi Life she asked me to review this game I was very exited the play this game because I haven’t played many games like this and I love almost all of Nintendo’s games like Mario legend of Zelda and Pokémon. I really like how you play as more as a spectator and that just like animal crossing the game goes along with real life dates and time I remember I had to wake up early in the morning to go to the morning market. It seems to me like it’s not like other games where you play for hours on end but it’s more like a game you would check on every once and awhile or on the sky train or bus. I really like how you can make your own mii or download ones you have already made and that each and every one will have his/her likes and dislikes. One of the things that make it so real is you can make friends go on dates get married and even have kids. Some things I really like the food and décor concept that’s one off the reasons you should play every day because you never know what new stuff will be in stock. There are some little problems there and there but to sum it up it’s a great DS game.

If you don’t know what a Mii is, you probably don’t own a Wii. Ours died a while ago, but the kids loved the little avatars (Mii’s) you could create and play with. TomoDachi Life takes these little Mii’s and gives them a world to live in where you can build up their friendships, keep entertained, feed and make sure they are heading to work on time too. They ask for you help and you can get presents and new experiences. You can dress em up and build up their personality quirks and watch and participate in their world.
There are all sorts of activities that you can do with your Mii characters. Find out what they like by watching their reactions to the gifts, foods, and items you give them. Play a variety of mini-games with your islanders or watch them perform songs live on stage. You can also solve their problems to help them level up and unlock new gift items that you can give your Mii characters.
You can share your Mii adventures too. You can send and receive Miis directly with your friends via Local Play. Or, you can create QR Code patterns for each of your favorite Miis and share with your friends. Just visit the Town Hall and choose the QR Code option. Select “Create QR Code” and follow the instructions. Share your QR Code with other players, and they’ll be able to import your Mii onto their islands.
The group play abilities on the Nintendo DS platforms really impresses me. This is a powerful tool and really does grow with kids as they mature into new needs and wants when it comes to gameplay. TomoDachi Life appeals to those that loved the Wii characters AND loves games like Sims where YOU get to play god.
