No really. The Odyssey was all ready the unicorn of minivans and now this…..I really have no words.
I haven’t had a chance to try too many other minivans. The one’s I have tried were good vans and all had great features, but I do not think any other car company will ever reach the standards of excellence that have been reached by Honda and their Odyssey Touring edition minivan.
I had the Odyssey for a week and was again boggled how easy they are to drive. There is no sense of hauling an extra long vehicle. Having auto everything makes me a bit giddy. I might have shrieked a bit when it told me to hurry up and BRAKE otherwise we were all going to die. Ok…it didn’t say that last bit, but the sensors on this thing are AMAZING. We must all feel nothing but guilt and shame for not hauling our families around in a Honda Odyssey.
We did all kinds of “family” stuff including a trip into Burnaby then the airport, then central Richmond all in one haul. It managed to keep kids happy and comfortable AND haul the luggage of two women heading to Hawaii with NO difficulty. AND I managed to park without freaking myself out or damaging the van or any vehicles around me. Honda makes me look like an awesome driver. For all the too-ing and fro-ing it was incredibly easy on the gas too.
But the show stopper for 2014 is the new built in vacuum. HondaVAC, the world’s first in-car vacuum system, was developed alongside industry-leader Shop-Vac®. It is standard on the Touring trim (the best Honda trim IMO) , it features a replaceable filter, canister bag, nozzle accessories, and a hose that reaches easily to the front seats and beyond — all of which can be conveniently hidden away in a storage compartment in the rear cargo area.
For people like myself who don’t have a big house with a garage WITH a Shop-Vac in it, this little miracle means no hauling out the regular vacuum for a difficult clean up and now no more trying to use the one at the gas station that never works. This vacuum would mean if I actually OWNED a Honda Odyssey, I could keep it shiny and NOT looking like our current vehicle does – ridden hard and put away wet. It does work like the Shop-Vac too. It was perfect for cleaning up around Tara’s car seat and all the leafy bits that we were trailing into the car.
Seriously..why did this not exist before now and why can’t I have it!!!????
The Honda Odyssey Touring is not cheap. If you want your HondaVAC you will be paying over $47 thousand for it. But all that AUTO stuff that you know you want is in this model. It really HAS to be the Touring model if you are going for the Odyssey. I can only dream at the moment.
One day. One day I will have a car that practically vacuums itself.
