I have a confession. Despite my brand loyalty to Pampers, I have avoided the many giveaways that Proctor and Gamble have offered because of two things really.
1) When I had Tara, I switched to mostly Cloth Diapers and so I felt I could not market a disposable. HOWEVER. Pampers were always our go to and especially when we got into potty training and pull-ups.
This leads to …
2) I am ashamed to say that we are at the ripe old age of FOUR still potty training Tara. I have not wanted to even ADMIT this failure so any topic related to diapers and potty training I just went ‘lalalalalalalala’ and slunk away to go clean Tara’s bum.
I guess I got cocky after the first two who were fairly straight forward and had it all figured out by the time they started pre-school. THAT is the key issue. Both Tara’s older siblings LOVED their preschool and one look at the cute bathrooms was enough to get them sorted. We didn’t sign up Tara at the same school due to financial constraints. Instead I had enrolled her at the local community centre based place. She hated it. It did nothing for her except make her miserable. So I pulled her out of that. Ever since, she has lived the life of an only at home with me while her two older sibs were at school. Now, during summer vacation, she is in heaven. She has everything she wants. Why would she poop in the toilet?
P&G put these videos out to inspire and encourage. They also had the hope that us OTHER P&G moms would do the same. Instead as MY Giveaway challenge, I am asking, yay, begging for any ideas on how to convince a FOUR year old that pooping in your pants SUCKS.
As much as I love Pampers, I do not want to buy them any more thank you very much.

Have your tried the reward system. sticker sheet? With my daughter I let her play with the potty early on so she was not scared of it ,and we used her dolls to show what it was for.

Oh Angela..it has really stumped me. We did everything the same with Tara that worked with Adam and Caity and we thought we had it nailed but the poop thing is just driving us nuts. She will happily run to the bathroom ANYWHERE for pee..but the poop is totally hit or miss and more miss..she won’t tell us and just DOES IT. We are now not giving her use of the ipad as I think that is a big reason behind it….

My favourite video is Stacey’s

My second son was hard to train. He has a very laid back personality and just seemed so disinterested in the whole process. It was wierd for me because my oldest had actually been trained early. My best advice is to not pressure her. When we decided we were just going to forget about it for a while, he decided after a few weeks that he was ready and after that he was fully trained in no time!

I relate the most to Tammy’s video

I wish I had some good advice for you, but my oldest is 4, and we’re still working on potty training with him too. Only he won’t always pee in the potty. The poop thing we’ve had down pat for well over a year now. It’s frustrating, isn’t it? Maybe give him a chance to go to the dollar store for a new toy after so many dry days? It seemed to help a little with mine.

I related most to Stacy’s video, because I tried the cheaper diapers, and they didn’t work either.

Unfortunately I have talked to a lot of moms who have said that nothing they tried worked. My only suggestion is to try dropping the subject all together for a bit and see what happens or try again after a little break. I tried for a long time with my daughter but it wasn’t until I sort of “gave up” that she became curious about it again and finally decided she was ready.

I can relate to Stacey’s video. — I have a little one at 7 months and I have had a lot of trouble with leaking– in fact no diaper I’ve tried has been perfect in this regard although Pampers have been the best by far.

So funny, Eventually she will figure it out. I have yet to see any adult ( except later in life) pooping their drawers. Although not fun for you! My fav video is from Tammy Mitchell and her active two-year-old son, Oakley. I love active 2 year olds. so energetic and so full of cuddles

We’re bribing ours with Winnie the Pooh stickers…(anyone else get the joke? Winnie the POOH? Yeah. That’s where we’re at here 🙂 )

I come from the school of tough love. Let her sit in it. ‘Cause, dude, she’s playing you 🙂

I don’t have any advice right now! I’m expecting my first one but I can see your frustrations. I guess a reward system could work, particularly if the reward is something that your child wants badly!
Areta says
I like Stacey’s video as I am expecting my first!

My thought would be to use rewards, but the reward needs to be pretty awesome in order to convince your child perhaps! Good luck!
