Every year I have big ideas and long lists about all the Christmas themed events going on around town. Empty pockets, low energy and no time seem to eat away at these lists and we feel lucky if we get the kids to see Santa at the mall. We have done the Christmas Train in Stanley park in the past, Vandusen Gardens AND I even crossed the suspension bridge for the Canyon Lights.
The things I do for my kids.
This year, people are trying to make the planning easier especially for those living out of town. The Vancouver Hotel Destination Association (VHDA) announced today a seasonal promotion called A Very Vancouver Xmas.
A Very Vancouver Xmas is a winter destination offering information on booking all the festive experiences for families and couples of all ages in one place. www.VeryVancouverXmas.com is the source for free and inexpensive Christmas attractions across the city, with a hotel and activity booking system that allows reserving the best seasonal sights and accommodations with ease.
I wish, however, that the site was set up so you could book the attractions without the hotels……oh well.
They have kindly invited myself and my family for a taste of some of the great experiences going on around town on Tuesday, December 6th. Riding on the Vancouver Trolley, we will get to experience a karaoke-trolley tour including the Vancouver Christmas Market, Bright Nights at Stanley Park and the Bloedel Conservatory Jewel Box of Lights.
This will surely make sure we are firmly in the Christmas spirit – Vancouver style.
Am really hoping to take the kids up Grouse this holiday season….will see if the bank account allows.

Thanks for writing about this. A great resource! We’re doing the singing Christmas Tree and also a charity magic show. I would also like to get up to Grouse. I hear it’s great.
