There were howls of frustration from Caitlyn when she learned that I and a few of my fellow Vancouver area bloggers had been asked to check out the new look and location of the Disney Store at Metrotown in Burnaby.
Caity has missed the original store since it closed and was THRILLED (as any 6 year old princess lover would be) to hear about the reopening. Suffice it to say..Caitlyn went to school and Tara and my my escorted me on the trip this am.
Disney Store’s mission is to deliver “the best 30 minutes of a child’s day” and the newly designed stores achieve this through immersive and interactive experiences. This includes animated trees that follow the seasons and with beautiful blossoms just now and characters such as Alic and Rapunzel seen in their branches.
The first thing the kids see is a miniature castle that leads to a wall of beautiful mirrors, where a wave of a wand (product codes!) will bring forth the princess connected to the wand.
This was a HUGE hit with the kids. They could not stop.
Tara was just in AWE of everything in the store…and this for a kid who really has only seen what Disney stuff the older kids watch and the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.
Disney wants this store to be more than a shopping experience for kids this time around. The store is supposed to help you ‘feel’ like you are at Disney Land or Disney World. There will be many more in store events planned including ‘Minnies Masquerade’ on April 8th and 9th, where kids can come dressed as their favourite Disney character.
I have to admit, we had a great time. I love all the stuff….can’t help it. Was thrilled to see more ‘boy’ products including things from Phineas and Ferb and Marvel, and the younger boys will love all the Cars products in store right now.
The prices are still pretty good and the staff are fun and cheerful…the way you would expect a Disney Staffer to be.
If you have kids who love all things Disney…the store will be a fun place to visit.
Tomorrow (Wednesday) is the big day…
Special celebrity guests and VIPs will be on hand to share in the magical experience. The first 500 guests in the store will receive their very own pair of Mickey Mouse ears.
Children of all ages can don their Mickey Mouse ears and explore the highly interactive new store features which include the Disney Princess Castle with a Magic Mirror, the Disney-Pixar Cars Ridemakerz custom car building experience, the Pixie Dust Trail and the 360-degree Disney Store Theatre where kids can choose their own entertainment from music videos to film clips to classic animation.
At 9 am at Metropolis at Metrotown….UNDER the food court on the Bay side of the mall.
[…] I am getting a sneak peak on Tuesday morning, so I will share with you what it is like too! Check out my review right here! […]
