I discovered Birth Fest when I was pregnant with Tara. The Midwives that I was using were attending as vendors at the event as were many other local shops and services for moms and moms to be in and around the Commercial Drive area.
I poured my heart out to a Doula there and came away with an adorable sling for Caity to carry her dolls around in.
I came away with confidence and peace of mind that with all these wonderful resources available…I could have a safe and happy birth and a safe and happy baby.
To me that is what Birth Fest is all about. Community….the village that SHOULD be there when we are raising our kids.
I took my husband with me the following year and he too came away feeling much more confident and happy about his parenting and what he could be as a father to three crazy kids.
That is Birth Fest in Vancouver.
Birth Fest is the product of the Birth Lounge..a collection of women who are passionate about birth and parenthood. Founded in 2006 Birth Lounge was created as a collective offering a virtual community of care to Vancouver families, with quality products and services supporting families through pregnancy, birth and postpartum.
This is a volunteer group. They do this because they feel that a collective voice gives more support to the women in need in Vancouver.
I wholeheartedly agree…which is why I want to help them too.
Britannia Community Centre will host their 5th Birth Fest on February 26th from 11 am to 4 pm.
I would like to take a moment to ask if my fellow mom bloggers out there would like to help get the word out about this event and about the Birth Lounge.
Being a volunteer run group, they heavily rely on the help of the community to promote and add value to the event. They recognize the reach that bloggers have and also recognize that they can offer some great exposure to your target market/group/readers.
They would like to invite you to not only attend Birth Fest on the day of, but also partner with them to promote the event.

Karen @ New and Green Baby says
While it is the intent that parents come away feeling like there is much support in their community, it is certainly NICE to hear that this actually happens. Thanks for sharing your Birth Fest Experience; it makes the volunteer hours all worth it!
We really appreciate your support Kerry!
