an active social life for me!!
Really!! I am a bit boggled. Blogging pays for getting you out and about that’s for sure!
A PR company asked me to check out the up and coming washer and dryers from Maytag and Whirlpool. The information is all ’embargoed’ but suffice it to say they are putting out some pretty sweet machines this year. And all good for efficiency and the environment.
It was a funny experience because it was down at the Caprice nightclub…probably the only time I will see it!
I then had to pick up the husband and head over to our ‘Safety’ session for being crummy runners up in the ‘control’ group in the Rocky Sleep Study.
That was a subdued session as really….we were all bummed about not being in the sleep session and being that most of us already HAVE kids we kind of get it on the safety thing. But we volunteered to help so there you go.
I suppose it was a good refresher to think about all the safety issues we ‘forget’ about in our sleep deprived state!
The following night I dashed out to Babies World for the Rookie Moms Survival Guide Book Launch!!! I managed to introduce myself and Adam to Erica Wells herself. Adam was in awe since he had just seen her on Global TV that morning.
Was also fun to see other moms and web mom types there like Yoyomama and Raspberry Kids.
I tried to not spend too much money.
That was an okay night marred by my son going all sulky and emo on me. 7 going on 17 is so much fun.
On Saturday, once the family was sorted I dashed out to UBC to attend and speak at Northern Voice! I am sure the many moms who attended the entire two days will be giving a great run down of the event. I sadly only managed a couple of sessions, plus mine…but from what I did see and all the cool people there….it looked great.
The biggest complaint I would have and many others did to was 45 minutes was just way to short for the sessions. Not when you had multiple speakers who all seriously rocked.
I would have loved to have attended the two days…..and hopefully next year will manage that.
Susan Main of Main Writer did a nice recap of our little session. Which, in my opinion would have gone on and on with much to cover and I wish more non moms had attended the session too. We don’t bite and can actually be quite interesting too!
Next up is a little cocktail party put on by Vancouvermom.ca to celebrate the top 30 mom bloggers that we have been all whinging about getting you to vote on!!
Oh and I haven’t even MENTIONED the Maple Leaf foods event coming up too.
Oh and like yeah…my FAMILY and their life fits in there somewhere too!
Thank you my dear children for your LOVELY Mothers Day gifts. I was truly impressed by the bath bombs that my son made at school.
I will truly admit to loving all the opportunities that blogging is bringing me. It is expanding my horizons. I get to meet interesting people, I get to see and imagine what it can all do for me beyond even the luxury of making real friends. I can see potential and inspiration all around me.
I am a lucky woman.

May is packed for me too. Usually my social calendar is a barren landscape. I guess it’s either a monsoon or a drought with me. See you on Thursday!

I think that you and I alone could probably have spoken for 4 hours. I get the feeling we are both talky that way. 😉
I only managed to attend the one day, and I enjoyed it. Maybe next year I’ll make both days, too.
