It hurts to recall that it was 14 years ago when my best buddy and I discovered that a mystical event called HopScotch was happening at a downtown hotel.
This event was purportedly an evening of TASTING fine Scotches AND micro brewed beers.
Could such a magical thing truly exist we thought? (this was pre kids remember!)
I think we fell upon our knees as the doors of the exhibit hall opened to display booths FILLED with some of the FINEST Scotches in the world. It was a wondrous and blurry night for us. And despite our progressive inebriation as the night wore on, we DID learn more about one of our favorite drinks and found NEW favorites too.
Well, HopScotch has grown and grown over the years. It is now a week long festival that celebrates all that is wonderful about Scotch and premium Beers. From November 15 to the 21st, take a moment to enjoy fine Scotch and Premium Beers.
There are Tasting Dinners, a Grand Tasting Hall, Seminars, Shopping AND most importantly a shuttle service to help you get safely home.
The event sells out like crazy. Is probably 90% sold out of most of the nights already..but there ARE tickets….especially for the Thursday night, November 18th, GRAND TASTING HALL.
My husband and I have tickets for the Bowmore Dinner, but have not yet committed to the tasting hall….but oh so want to. We have fond memories of the event YEARS ago and would love to go again. It is down at the lovely Rocky Mountaineer Station.
General Admission is $40 (Thursday/Friday/Saturday) and the ticket price includes 5 Free Tasting Tokens and Souvenir tasting cup. These tokens allow you to pick and choose which brands you would like to sample.
And this is where it gets most awesome……the people behind HOPSCOTCH have offered me a discount code for the readers of Wet Coast Women and Crunchy Carpets. Simply use the code “crunchycarpets” when ordering your tickets and save $5 of the price of admission for the Thursday Night Tasting on November 18th.
Now I have to admit I have been surprised to see little mention of this festival on my Twitter stream. I follow a lot of ‘local’ and lots of non parental locals who attend LOTS of fun festivals and events in town and many relating to booze….I would love to know about people who have attended or are planning on attending and if planning…why not get a deal through Wet Coast Women and Crunchy Carpets to check it out.
