Clean socks are a privilege, not a right

Worries for Tara

July 20, 2010 by Kerry Sauriol 6 Comments

Things have been a tad mental around House Crunch.

Tara seems to have come down with something ….we are all not sure what…despite a visit to our doc and a trip to Children’s Hosp ER.  It is either bacterial or viral.  WE thought it was bugs…like bitey ones.  It looked like she was getting chomped by SOMETHING and these red marks were appearing all over her arms and legs.   And they looked angry and sore!

She developed a fever all weekend long that has finally broke..but she is miserable and not eating.  She is hydrated and taking in fluids and peeing and all that…but the spots and the misery and the heavy eyes sure have me freaking out.

This has sucked because it has meant staying close to home which is boring for the other two when we are usually hitting pools and water parks.

And we are all worried.   I don’t like seeing my normally unstoppable baby…stopped.  While the extra cuddles are great… this is not my Tara…and I wish she would get better.

Needless to say I have been a bit distracted in replying to emails and getting any posting done on the ol blogs.

I just want our little T back the way she is supposed to be.

I keep wondering if she picked up something weird at the Petting Farm last Wednesday.

She has not eaten all day today….if she isn’t eating more tomorrow I will be back down at the hospital demanding more  tests.

So the hospital just sent you home with no answer? How typical. And frustrating! I do hope it’s miraculously cured by morning. Poor little T.

I really hope she’s feeling better soon.

The Poptart had hand, foot and mouth disease the week before last (not to be confused with hoof and mouth disease – if you go to the BC Health Guide online and look for hand, foot and mouth it’s in there) and the symptoms seemed similar to what you’re describing: fever, rash, not eating. If it is that, the rash is not itchy. It also causes a sore throat (a really sore throat) and general achiness. And really achy – I know because I got it too. Its a virus and takes about 7-10 days to run its course.

Poor little T! It is always 100+ times worse when your kids are sick because you usually can DO anything to make them feel better.

I hope she’s feeling better today.

It is so difficult when your children are sick and it is hard to stay away from worry. What kind of tests have they already run and what did they say was the plan? Did they say to wait so long and come back? Is she drinking at least?

Sorry with all the questions, it’s the RN in me! Just think how crazy I am when my own baby is not well. Let’s hope little T will perk up and leave all the sick days behind her ASAP.

I think it is very reasonable to go back to the doctors if she doesn’t eat by tomorrow.
