As you may have noticed, and as I mentioned in my previous rant against GIANT CORPORATIONS, I don’t do a lot of reviews.
This isn’t a review blog. It is my personal blog all about me and my family. I have been getting more and more requests from companies however, to either review or try products AND if it the product fits into my family and I am comfortable with the idea, I will for sure say yes.
AGES ago, the really nice people representing BROTHER Canada contacted me about their label makers.
The one they wanted me to check out was this..This is the P-Touch PT1230PC Labeller. This one connects to your computer with a handy dandy usb connector. You just need a couple of AAA batteries to get it up and running.
“A label maker!” I said to them, “Pray show me more about this wondrous invention!!” Especially after I had been ‘requested’ by the husband to PLEASE WRITE DOWN WHAT IS IN THE TOTES!
The package that this amazing little machine arrived in was the best example of the versatility of it.
And that is what I like about this little thing. The labels for this machine come in handy cassette like cartridges that pop in and out of the labeler. They sent me a variety of them…because some stuff is easier to STICK stuff onto than others! You can have non laminated white labels, which is sort of the standard basic one. Then there are labels for fabric, coloured, laminated, and acid free which is great for things like photos etc.
I have been using the fabric one’s for the kids boots and coats for school. We are now busy labeling totes, file boxes and photo boxes too. This thing makes us look organized!
The labels are very durable. The one’s on the kids metal water bottles have survived my kids handling them and the frequent washes the bottles get.
Now I have in now way really explored the versatility of these things. When I need labels, I plug the machine in and up pops the screen where I can type in my label. I can pick fonts, size etc. The system is quite detailed.
HOWEVER..you can also download for free, software that melds in with your word processing software. This gives you flexibility for way more complicated labels or filing systems that myself would possibly ever need.
But for businesses, home or otherwise, this is a good option.
For me, the software that comes with the machine itself is MORE than enough for the labels I need to make.
I do think this is a great little machine and have had a lot of fun trying it out.
Online the P-Touch PC Labeller retails for $69.99. I am not sure how much it goes for in the stores.
I want to thank Brother Canada and apologize for taking so long in getting this review up.
