So for fall, I signed mom and myself up with the Community Centre choir.
Mom and I had done some ‘amateur’ choral singing a few years ago and really enjoyed it….so figured we should have a go again.
There is only seven of us in this little choir, but our teacher, Miriam, was/is amazing and really pushed us and our confidence levels.
We even have one brave guy all alone doing tenor duty.
Last Sunday we had our debut at the Collingwood Community Centre where we “opened” for the rest of her solo and younger students.
It was really nice and fun and wow was I blown away by the little girls singing their hearts out.
Last night was our final night of this fall session, so we invited our families and Miriam invited some of the class she teaches over at Mt Pleasant Community Centre to join us.
It was really fun…and great to hear our music with MORE people.
We had some Christmas music arranged too, and for that we invited our ‘audience’ to get up and join us.
Adam stood with his nana and Caity joined me. Both did their darndest to sing a long with us.
It was really sweet.
I think we need to teach Adam to sing and get him into some childrens choir…so confident.
I love singing…I love how a choir mixes all sorts of voices into something quite lovely.
Mom and I will no doubt sign up for the winter session with Miriam..
And it got us in the spirit of the season and I had my first butter tart of the season too!
Yum

oh you lucky lady! I wish I had someone who has my passion for singing to join a choir with. Sadly, I don’t have the confidence your Adam does! lol
I’d love to join our Surrey Community Choir, however it’s by audition and I’d never have a chance of getting in!
Anika has asked to take singing lessons, so maybe one day, when she’s older, she’ll take her old mom along to choir like you and your mom are doing. What a great way to get out in the community and have fun!

I love to sing with other people. It’s something that we don’t get to do much as adults. It’s a big part of why I go to church, because I’m not in a place where I can commit to an acutal choir right now. That’s the only place I can indulge my love of singing in a socially acceptable manner. 😉
