Is what you see when you attend The Wiggles in Vancouver and four tickets cost over $200.
This was Crunchy Husband’s first BIG kids concert. Usually it has been either just me, or me and my mom that take the kids. He had a blast, but also commented on the apparent higher income economic sector that was represented by the well dressed and groomed parents and kids in attendance. I must have missed the notice on Ticketmaster that said ‘only those from the West Side of town need attend.’ Everyone seemed really ‘glam.’ with expensive hair do’s and designer duds. And then there was us!
At $42 a ticket, I can see why this would be the case. That and the show being downtown at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre. Or are Wiggles high class or something?
I believe this is the first tour without Gregg, the Yellow Wiggle. Instead we were introduced to Sam, who has an almost identical singing voice! They did a sad video at the beginning of the show where Gregg explained his medical condition – some heart problem – where he said goodbye and passed the torch.
Other than that, they did great. The energy was high and the singing was fun. Adam was bouncing all over the place and Caity was quiet but very focused. This was her first big show. At dinner after she just kept telling EVERYONE ‘I SAW WIGGLES!’ in a loud voice. Very cute.  I didn’t see one unhappy kid.  Everyone sang along and we had a good chuckle at Anthony trying to remember anything he had been told about Vancouver…I think the Fraser river was it. And I can’t even copy how he said ‘Fraser.’
So the kids are happy. Each chair had a crayon set and a Wiggles Colour-in picture frame and they have been colouring a way all morning. They each bought with their pocket money a $20 light up baton thing with the ‘Big Red Car’ on top of it. That has been waved around ever since.
It was so weird though. We were only out of the house for about four hours yesterday and we were totally shattered and felt that we had been gone all day! Yes, we are all still getting over horrid colds and THANK GOODNESS we were all well enough to still go – but still!
We are having a lazy Sunday so far. Hubby as work to do and so it will be laundry and minor housework and hopefully get outside before the rain gets heavy again.
My daughter has seen the Wiggles twice, and they never fail to put on a great show. (Although our tickets were far cheaper than that – ours were about half that price!)
WOW!! That is quite the ticket price. Glad ya’ll had fun. I am amazed that there are kids out there that sit and watch these concerts. My kids would never do it. I think my kids are the weird ones.
Happy Lazy Sunday.
I looked for you there!! Hahah. It was funny though, I thought the same thing…being from Maple Ridge I felt very down town-y that night. You’re right about everyone being glam. Make up on , designer clothing, and you should’ve seen some of the kids…straight out of catalogues!
It was a great show, even though it rained like crazy and we got wet just walking from the parking lot to the theatre.
I thought Sam did great too! I liked the way they explained that for the kids, it would’ve been odd other wise.
Those car baton things were 20 bucks?! My kids wanted them, but we were in a hurry and I didn’t stop. Thank goodness.
Well, feel better soon… (sorry for the long comment)
Smiles,
Michelle
I love your humor!
My 2 year old son LOVES the Wiggles so much. He calls them “ya-ya” for some reason.
I would love to see the live show but I think I’d be too sad to not see Greg! LOL.
