As much as I decry the problems with Vancouver, this city is certainly in its glory when the sun is shining. One of the best places to see that is from Spanish Banks.
We headed down there on Thursday after the girls had volunteered at the UBC Child Development Program, helping the students with their various behavioral tests. We had packed all sorts of things depending on if the weather stayed cloudy or not. Well, it was or not. It was GLORIOUS.
We had buckets n spades, and our sun shade and blankets and the tide was JUST starting to come in so we had enough time to walk out onto the slimy seabed and squish the muddy sand beneath our feet.
I was also gratified that I succeeded as a mother and NOBODY was sunburned or windburned. We had found a sheltered spot which did keep the wind off our faces, and the new Coleman sunshade worked like a hot dam and is also great for changing out of sandy wet clothing.
