Bring Your Kids Art to Life With Crayola Colour Alive

March 18, 2015 by Kerry Sauriol 17 Comments

We are crawling into the last few days of Spring Break here and while I have been still working at my part-time job, my mom has been truly tested by keeping the three kids occupied and alive while I am gone.  Crayola has once again stepped into the fray and entertained them for a few hours inside the house and out.

I love that Crayola doesn’t go crazy with the gendering of their stuff.  Instead you get a ‘selection’ of things to draw or colour that a boy or girl might depending on their preferences.  So they have had fun with Skylanders, Mythical Creatures, and even Barbie.  The colouring books for their Colour Alive selection are detailed enough to appeal to my 12 year old but are simple enough for the five year old too.

Colour Alive is a fun concept that allows kids to bring their creations to life with a cool app that works on smartphones, iPods and tablets.  The kids have had loads of fun with the four colouring books we received and you can download even more through the app.     Just note that you need a fair bit of memory to get the app working. We had the best results on my iPad mini since I had the most available memory on that one, otherwise you will be deleting a lot of your old photos and unused apps and games in order to get it to work.  The app is FREE to download on Google Play, Windows, and the Apple Store.

Another great virtual set from Crayola and PERFECT for vacations and road trips is the Virtual Fashion show and Virtual Design & Drive Design. The kids can create amazing fashion or car designs with the Sketch Book and take a picture with your device. Watch your designs come to life! You can also store your creations in a digital gallery and share with friends. App designed for iOS & Android devices. These kits come with their own pencil crayons and sketch pad. Download the app here.

I am really happy to share this pack with my Canadian readers! A lucky reader is going to win a fun pack for their road trips or rainy day at home with the virtual products I have shared here. The pack is valued at over $65 and includeds 4 Colour Alive books (Barbie, Mythical Creatures, Skylanders and Enchanted Forest) as well as two Virtual kits (Fashion Show & Design & Drive) Enter below before April 10th for your chance to win. Good luck!

My favourite is crayons. Nothing beats an old fashioned crayola crayon. My favourite was always the brick red coloured one 🙂
