I love hair. I don’t know why I didn’t become a hair stylist. Instead I torture my kids. While I managed to get my hair cut by impressive names like Cheynes back in the 70’s, with insane bowl cuts galore…I never got my hair coloured until my teen years and the whole lets see what I can do to torture my hair trend started and really never ever finished.
My daughter loves all things glam and fashion though. She has nicer nails than I do and obsesses about hair and skin and on and on and she is only ten. Heaven help us.
I freely pay more for getting her decent hair cuts. She has crazy thick curly hair that takes a professional touch to train and style. However, I balk at paying for colour…that stuff ain’t cheap. So here we were today with a box of colour and bleach. HAH.
The bleaching process worked out rather nicely and we probably should have stopped there.
She was torn too as the streaks looked really pretty. But no…she wanted BLUE and GREEN so we decided to forge ahead.
I don’t have photos of my bathroom or her during all this, but my bathroom looked like we had murdered a smurff. EVERYTHING was blue. I mean everything. My hands were DARK blue, Caity was light blue…..there was BLUE everywhere. OMG.
Trying to get Caity to rinse it out in the shower whilst shrieking about it being in her eyes….babe, it was in more than your eyes……I had this horror that we would be both stuck being blue so was frantically rinsing and scrubbing us with skin toner and anything else I could grab – Purell, Tide, you name it, I tried it. Once I got Caity less blue I had to tackle the tub….Caity was sent for bleach and any other powerful cleaning products we could grab and I scrubbed and scrubbed….a few towels were lost…..oh so lost.
We did prevail. I even managed to unblue Caity and my hands which was SUCH a relief.
Caity’s hair is OKAY but I ain’t ever doing that again.
I just love that she is happy and confident enough to try stuff like this. She is an amazing young lady and I am so glad she is my ‘wingman’ when it comes to fashion and beauty these days.

Oh my gosh. You had me at the smurf comment. Both looks look great and the effect is quite different from one look to the other. You are brave to go it alone at home. I always think I can do it, if I tried, but I fear I’d turn my hair orange.
