Vancouver Art Gallery: Family Fuse Weekend

November 24, 2013 by Kerry Sauriol Leave a Comment

After a mundane Saturday filled with errands and Doctor Who, it was a refreshing change to spend the afternoon at the Vancouver Art Gallery’s Family Fuse Weekend today.

The Gallery always has family focused events throughout the year, but their Fuse events are sort of a mega themed weekend.  This weekends theme was Tell Me A Story and sought to inspire the kids to create stories through various art mediums.  And so it did.  The girls loved all the art based challenges and we barely scratched the surface today.

My biggest takeaway from today was just how amazing the staff and volunteers at the gallery are amazing.  Even the security was fun and chatty and AMAZINGLY patient with all these touchy grabby kids who don’t understand the concept of  ART.    I want to thank ALL of you today who interacted with my girls.   Every one of you showed your love of art, learning and patience with my kids and especially Tara who was enjoying the attention a bit too much.

The kids were very proud to come home and tell their dad, brother and nana all about their art work and the stories behind the work.

I want thank the Gallery for working so hard at not only welcoming children inside to experience  the works you share but to encourage the love of art in all forms.
