Thor: The Dark World

November 6, 2013 by Kerry Sauriol Leave a Comment

I am not an expert at writing movie reviews…that is my husbands world. For movie info you can go to his site.   He usually gets the screeners for the Marvel films, and he did, but so did I…so coins were tossed and children had to decide who got to go…it was me.  🙂  Thor: The Dark World comes out on Friday.  It is the second one of the Thor series and again is tied in with the other Marvel (successful) trifecta  – The Avengers and Captain America.

We even get a cute cameo of Captain America in this film.

I would say the sequel is on par with the first one when it comes to similarity in pacing and story.

Loki is as charming as ever and his family and acquaintances have not forgotten the first two films.   Jane’s friends are as superfluous but cute and endearing as they were in the first film.   It was sad to see that Shield had not taken care of her boss Eric after his experiences in the Avengers, but all is right in the end.

Idris Elba is impressive even just standing around doing nothing.  As is Christopher Hemsworth himself.   As all Gods are, of course.

Thor: The Dark World has plenty of humour injected in between the action….this time against ‘Dark Elves’ that fly kick ass space ships. These are not Lord of the Rings elves indeed.     And these one’s have been sulking and waiting for the conjunction of the realms across the universe to release a great dark power and have their revenge.

Well Jane and Thor are not going to have that.

Rated PG:13 the film is filled with intense but bloodless action.  If your kids like action like Star Wars, etc, they will enjoy this.  Adam enjoyed it even though he says he did not see the first one.  Go tell em to read the comics first.
