Can You Feel The Noise? Monster Jam in Vancouver

January 21, 2013 by Kerry Sauriol 1 Comment

Saturday, January 26th. Fans will witness the world’s best monster truck series battle it out in the ultimate event of intense speed, racing and destruction as twelve massive monster trucks go head to head in dirt-flying, car-crushing action!  I have never been to a Monster Truck show.   Was quite boggled by the concept and the noise.  However, a few years ago, my son got to ride in one at a demo at the PNE and him and his dad thought it was pretty darn cool.  NOW we get to see what all the NOISE is about.

This weekend’s show features the return of Monster Jam World Finals champion, the Canuck themed monster truck Northern Nightmare, driven by World Freestyle Champion and Kelowna-resident Cam McQueen, the legendary powerhouse Grave Digger and the 10th Anniversary of Max-D (highlighted by its newly redesigned tricked-out “Decade of Destruction” truck body). Other fan-favourite trucks include Captain’s Curse, Time Flys, Detour, Titan, Maniac, Double Trouble, Captain USA and Western Renegade driven by Canadian driver Barry Parkin. **truck line-up subject to change.

Are Monster Truck Jam’s just for the boys in the family?  Oh no.  Not here.  It was my daughter who got REAL excited when she spotted the BATMAN truck in the line up.  We have a tough as nails girl in our family who likes things LOUD and MEAN.   Built for short, high-powered bursts of speed, monster trucks generate 1,500 to 2,000 horsepower and are capable of speeds of up to 100 miles per hour. Monster trucks can fly up to 125 to 130 feet (a distance greater than 14 cars side by side) and up to 35 feet in the air.

In addition to the exciting Monster Jam event, the “Party in the Pits” pre-show experience on Saturday, January 26th, from 3:00pm – 5:00pm will give fans the opportunity to view the trucks up close and meet the drivers of the massive monster trucks. Pit passes are required for entry and can be purchased for $10 each.

Monster Jam events are affordably priced for the whole family with seats for kids starting at $15 and tickets for adults starting at $25. Tickets are also available at the BC Place Box Office, online at www.ticketmaster.ca or charge by phone at 855-985-5000. All ticket prices listed are advance purchase only; tickets are $5 more when purchased the day of the event; tickets may be subject to service charges, facility and handling fees.
