It is getting down to the wire now. We don’t want to buy anything more, so if it ain’t bought, they ain’t gettin it right!!!
My house is a clean as it is probably going to get.
The lights are up. The tree is not dead. The wrap is ready but not yet on the gifts.
The Christmas concerts at school wrapped up today. Almost ended up in fisticuffs between my mom and the rude dude beside me. Yes sir, she can indeed ‘talk to you THAT way’ when she asked you to shhhh since 5 minutes before the teachers said the same thing!
Dear people who speak in normal voices during live events……we can all hear you, it is not your living room.
Anyway.
The kids had fun singing. Adam apparently DOES play the trumpet as he got a B from the band teacher. They both have made some cute Christmas crafts. Both their report cards were fine. And we won’t mention the apparently very exciting fight that Adam was in. Sigh.
I love how our school manages Christmas. It becomes a time for the kids to focus on giving (foodbank drives) and also learning about each other, as many of the kids don’t celebrate Christmas. Our school does other multicultural days during the year, so it is actually nice to see the school celebrate the season as one group putting away (mostly) all their differences. There are many Santa hats worn and everyone enjoys the big sing along to the carols. Their enthusiasm is always cheering to me.
Hats off to all the teachers and the effort they put in to this time of year.
As we speak I am a bit miffed as TWO gifts have not yet made it here. I know the postal services are doing their best, but when everything else makes it, it does cheese me off. Well hopefully we shall see them by Christmas Eve.
It is funny that by the time you buy all the presents that you swore you wouldn’t after complaining about ungrateful kids and all that, here we are totally looking forward to Christmas morning. I can’t help it. I love Christmas. I love the excitement of the kids. They are so excited …this weekend is going to be tough. I lost count of all the notes Caity wrote to Santa. I don’t know how she thinks he has time to read them all.
It is all too expensive, too stressful, but I don’t care. I like it.
The Magic of Christmas lives in our house……in our own little way. Am looking forward to my husband being off for a few days and time for our family to hang out together. Christmas for me is always about hunkering down with the one’s you love and enjoying the moment while reflecting on those that are not with you this time and to those that cannot enjoy the time due to whatever difficulties they are going through. Time indeed to count your blessings.
Now is time to sit back and enjoy the chaos…..we can’t do anything about it…….just make sure everyone is happy and let the count down to Turkey begin.
