Ddrops is running a fun contest in which they will select four Canadian Mom Bloggers to sponsor for Blissdom Canada ’11. To qualify you have to write a post about how Mom bloggers can have a positive impact on the health of Canadians.
This is a fascinating topic…..blogging and mom blogging in particular is all about community. It is all about sharing and support. Yes, there is bashing and judgie attitudes too, but for the most blogging about family means showing you care about other people’s families too.
For me, reading other blogs is about inspiration and new ideas. I am in awe of the moms who meal plan, and who work hard at making healthy choices for their families. I am grateful for them sharing their lifestyles with me as then I can use them to model better and healthier eating and living for my own family.
Reading other blogs can be about connecting. About seeing that you are not alone in whatever struggles YOU may be facing as mother or a human being. From weight loss struggles to dealing with parenting struggles, to the trials of every day life and loss…..knowing there are others out there that understand you and your situation can make life a lot less stressful.
Reading other blogs is about sharing. When people share their stories, we get answers to things we perhaps were afraid to ask or just didn’t know where to start.
Mom Blogging is all about community. The village moved from our streets to cyber space. The advice, help and aid now comes through your computer or your iPhone. Mom Bloggers reach out. Mom bloggers help those who need help…on purpose or just by their words.
I am sure blogging has saved lives as well as changed lives.
Even the basics like those who review products. Women and Mothers tend to take their peers at their word. So we LISTEN if someone says a product is good for us.
And if a Mom Blogger is advocating change in how a product is made or sold….we listen. We read…..we take up the cause. Corporations now listen to what the Mom Blogger says. If we demand healthier products for our families…..the brands now take heed.
This is how Mom Blogging makes a positive impact on us. Blogging and Social Media has made the world a village and in that village we share and care.
I hope the Ddrops crew likes it! You can Tweet me about it at @CrunchyCarpets

Thanks for entering the Ddrops Blissdom Canada 2011 contest. This is a great post. Moms who share their experiences and ideas with other Moms can help make a huge difference in a family. To your point, healthy lifestyles are a great example. Learning what other Moms do to keep their families healthy not only gives other Moms ideas on how to achieve the same, but it also keeps them motivated (at least that’s how it is for me when I read other Mom’s blogs). On behalf of the Ddrops teams, good luck in the contest!

Good luck!!
I think that anything can make an impact, if it’s done with the intention to be done as such, and sometimes even when it’s not.
Great post!
