So DESPITE the powers that mock my life, we have had a great few days. Mostly.
Well…lets just say everything sort of worked out as planned. Which is saying a lot.
No really…it is.
A dear friend came for a visit with her two hilarious daughters in between HER hectic life on Friday and we had a nice afternoon listening to our kids get completely wound up and over stimulated.
We chatted about what her kids think of the LeapFrog toys and she as a parent and teacher has been pretty happy with how much her kids like them. They have the Tag Reader and it was really cute watching her two year old using it to read the books we had. They also have the Leapster and have been impressed with that too.
Needless to say our kids had fun. They haven’t seen each other in ages and it was great to see them play so well together.
After was too tired for dinner and was happy to test out the new Triple O that opened nearby.
Saturday was cleaning, organizing etc and planning to head out to the Capilano Suspension Bridge and their LIGHT UP THE NIGHT special light ceremony!!
This took a LOT of planning as it was FREEZING cold and I had to figure out the layers of clothing and you know, FIND all the winter gear we do have stashed around.
We timed our arrival right there and managed to SALE into parking. Seriously, if we had arrived 10 minutes later…parking would have been INSANE to find. The crowds were CRAZY!!
The Cap people did a great job taking care of everyone with Hot Chocolate and Bailey and cookies and LOADS of those gas heater thingies for us to lurk under!
Daddy and Adam and Caity headed to the OTHER side while Tara and I watched the lighting up ceremony from THIS side of the canyon.
Tara doesn’t look too impressed here!!
But the lights were GORGEOUS!!!
When the family returned and were loaded up again on Hot Chocolate and MORE cookies, they convinced me to head OVER the bridge. Now, big deal you say. But you don’t get it. Even back in my days of being a tourist in Vancouver, I HATED that bridge. So seriously..this was HUGE. I crossed the freaking suspension bridge. And had to hold my daughters hand and act confident the WHOLE way too!!
Now…because really, I have no dignity..I will post this really really bad photo of me that I made Adam take to PROVE that I crossed over AND walked around their Treetops Walk too, but it is dark so really…totally defeated THAT purpose.
Sigh..my son takes TERRIBLE photos of me…sheesh. But really this is me UP HIGH!!! BE PROUD OF MEEEEE!! (gosh my chins are scary!)
And people can be total asshats..just saying.
Like if you are at a railing with a view and like NOT taking pictures or LOOKING at the view but instead looking the other way with your friends and or family and hoping to spot and be spotted by OTHER friends because you are poser douche bags….bite me.
Despite that…and Pat starting to feel worse and worse as the afternoon wore on, we had fun.
No really, we did!
So Sunday came upon us and brought a sick husband. This totally cheesed me off as I was really really looking forward to attending the VanCityBlogHer night at the Tempest Streakhouse down on Main. As the day wore on I was getting really concerned. So a deal was struck and I brought along little T with me while he handled the other two monkeys.
Phew. It was great to see bloggers and tweeters I knew and had not yet met. It is a lovely little place and I can’t wait to go there for a real dinner instead of just their delish appies.
Thank you BlogHer and thank you organizer Mommy is Moody for all your efforts!
Vancouver really is FILLED with awesome bloggers, twitterers and other social media types. Fund raising abounds as does genuine friendliness and fun.
Yay for the Family Crunch.
They all took today off work and school to nurse their diseases and HOPEFULLY everyone will be on the mend and ready to rumble into the growing Christmas chaos.
In the meantime, check out my Vancouver Rant!

My daughter takes awful photos of me, too. When she doesn’t manage to make me look as if I have 15 chins, she cuts my head off or some such thing. I think it’s because they’re shorter, and no one really looks that great from below.
I’m glad you had fun in spite of the cold. We were at a similar event here in Coquitlam last night and it was FREEZING, but also good. I am just so glad that it’s not raining, that I’ll take it.
