So actual Halloween was fun. Patrick and his pal John worked hard getting everything set up outside and I worked hard at finishing things up inside AND dressing the kids and so on.
Most of my photos are crummy and there are NONE of me this year apparently…
My buddy Carol has way better photos…so go visit her site for excellent pics of the kids and the decorations.
Oh and her treats were MOST yummy too!
Mike and Carol and our OTHER cool friends Pia, Ian and Vicky showed up to keep Patrick and John company.
While I took the kids trick or treating.
We hooked up with another mom and gang of savages so we could gossip about OTHER mom’s.
And the kids had a riot.
Pink Supergirl and our young Padewan met a tiny Darth Vader in the dark, and a battle was had. The best ( and most petty part) for me was that was the kid of the snotty neighbour who hates me. I told Adam to go gentle with the light sabres because OUR was really expensive…not like that one.
I can’t find the cool photo of my mom…but I think she has one too. I hope. My photos did not work at all this year. Time to buy a real camera.
I was also just too busy to take many photos. Between running around with the kids and then just trying to hang out with friends and make sure everyone is fed and having fun…I was lacking in the photo department.
Oh well.
It was great to hang with adults and just have a laugh.
Caity passed out and Adam was dazed by sugar.
Then we checked on poor Crystal. Patrick found her under the bed.
She had been detiorating fast. The vet on Wednesday had said it was her kidneys and unless we could get some food and supplements in her, there wasn’t much else we could do.
By Friday, she couldn’t walk and didn’t want to eat or drink.
It was very sad.
She made it through the night and in the morning we decided to call the vet to see if we could bring her in for her ‘last goodbye.’
She died before we could get to the vet.
Poor old girl. I don’t think she suffered too much. It was just old age and everything shutting down.
But she was Patricks moms cat. So this made it extra sad for us. Specially for poor Adam. What a terrible thing for him to deal with. That boy has dealt with SO much death. Too much for a six year old.
Far too much.
We are going to get her ashes and Adam is going to scatter them over his nanas grave.
After that..we rested.
Then…..(and this is why we are cursed)….we get a call from my Grandmother-in-laws care home. They had neglected to inform us that she had been admitted to the hospital..THE DAY BEFORE!!!
Nobody told us.
They still haven’t said why..but I am assume they go the results of the X-ray that they said she didn’t need and indeed it showed pneumonia.
But to not call us?
Holy crap.
So today, we have cleaned up all the Halloween gear and now we will have to get down to the hospital to get some answers.
My brother in law checked in last night..but he is as useless….
Is everything always this complicated?
What a bloody joke.
I’m glad you all had a nice time. We did too. 🙂

I didn’t take any pics of my kids either! I didn’t charge the camera and I was rushing last minute to get my sons their costumes. I did find a great place called The Children’s Place, which had great Halloween costumes: http://www.sharesavvy.ca/cities/vancouver/reviews/570
Thank goodness for well-informed mommies who share their well-informed tips and ideas! The Children’s Place had great costumes for ages 5 to 12 and a lot of variety in the choices.
Btw, I’m also deeply sorry about your cat :(. Our doggy passed away from complications due to old age, as well, and it’s something that time can only heal.
take care,
Christina
I’m so sorry about your kitty. It always hurts to lose a pet, even when you know they’re old and not doing well. Hope Adam is feeling better about it soon.
