So it has been 7 days since Crunchy Husband started a job that takes him OUT OF THE HOUSE and INTO AN ACTUAL OFFICE.
He is gone from 8 in the morning to around 6:30 or 7 at night.
He has not had such a job since before Adam was born. It feels really weird.
We are trying to get used to the whole ‘cram everything into the weekend’ thing and all the calls and so on that I can do for him….and trying to get a hold of him for JUST important stuff and not just to chat or share funny stuff.
I also feel guilty if I am slacking of at home…I feel I must fill my day up to be ‘equally’ tired as he. Like I haven’t been doing enough or something.
Anyway, I miss him. The kids miss him too.
And we are lucky that this opportunity showed up when it did. It just takes a bit of getting used to.
My already sub par efforts at cooking have really slipped. I haven’t felt like creating BIG meals for just me and the kids…however, this disappoints CH who I am sure would like at least some leftovers when he wanders in.
But we will adjust and roll along with the new routine….which will change again when Adam finishes school in a week and a bit.
Our weekends are filling up…appointments, birthday parties, a wedding….summer will fly by.
I am still TOTALLY excited about going to BlogHer. I cannot wait.
AND now the evening for I am attending and speaking at WordPress Camp Fraser Valley – totally stoked about that, despite the fact that my darling WP blogs keep bugging up!
But there is people there I want to meet in real life and so this will be really fun.
It also means I really gotta get my Category Buttons sorted and up on Wet Coast Women….however, being that sort of thing is troublesome for me, that will take some patience……yah.

I gotta tell ya, my little sister was totally non-cooking until she met and fell in love with Rachel Ray. I know it sounds corny, but the meals really are simple, fast, plentiful and healthy. I’m amazed by the variety in each meal my sister now produces whenever I visit. The main thing (true also in my house which isn’t a Rachel Ray one) is to keep onions, garlic and olive oil on hand.
Good luck on the family’s transition to the mundane work world!

I try to make real meals a couple nights a week but lately, as things get busier we’ve been eating more takeout. As long as no one is starving, I think any kind of dinner is ok, and my kids still get really excited about breakfast for dinner (EASY)

It’s summer. Too hot to cook.
That’s my mantra for right now. It doesn’t really work come Fall but by then I’m craving comfort foods like potato soup and baked chicken.
You guys have some transitions you’re making but it sounds like it’s coming along nicely. Hopefully summer will fly only up until BlogHer and then it will slow down so I can enjoy it.
