Well, we at least got to see some fun photos today.
I went for an early ultrasound of our mysterious house guest to make sure everything was ok.  It was wild to watch this two centimetre creature wiggling about. The miracle of life and all that.
Crunchy Husband was grinning from ear to ear. He told the technician that he never gets tired or less amazed by these type of images.
My MIL is still in ICU and still unresponsive, though her body seems to be responding well to the the dialysis and whatever else they are doing.  We just need her to wake up and say hi.
We have been trying to visit her in between work things, and kid things and grandparent things and me not wanting to just lie in bed and SLEEP.
Couple of things I wanted to say….First. We had been having a conversation about what is important – friends or family. I have always stuck with the idea that those that show you love, compassion and caring are more important regardless of blood or not.  When my mom and I were basically homeless it was FRIENDS who came and offered us help and shelter. I have never forgotten this.
This concept has been confirmed for me with the relationships I have built over the internet. I have made some real friends.
During this tough time I have been continuously amazed at the care and concern shown to me and my family by these ‘cyber’ friends.  The warmth that has been shown through little messages, cards, etc has blown me away and reminded me just how ‘good’ humans can be, and just how great the internet can be. We hear all the time about the bad stuff…..let’s remember all the great friends and so on that we have found through the wonders of the internet.
Thanks everyone.
Other thing…..We have spent a LOT of time in hospitals lately. Â And while I disagree with the rosey picture that Michael Moore apparently paints of our health system in ‘Sicko’ (I haven’t seen it), I am amazed at the technology and the money that technology obviously costs, all to keep my MIL alive.
She has been surrounded by state of the art technology.   All that must cost an ENORMOUS amount of money. Let’s not even think about the cost of a dedicated team of nurses, etc at her side 24/7. Let’s not even think about the basics of clean linen and so on.
I can’t imagine having to worry about those costs while dealing with the grief and worry.
So while our system does need a great deal of work. Hats of to what we have.

I hope you feel better, and your MIL.
When I was in the hospital, I had the exact same thought – really, thank god that we do have the health care that we do! My hospital bill was something like $15,000! I have no idea what I would do if I actually had to pay that!
Whew! Well that’s a relief, and maybe for you too!
Cheers
Glad to hear everything okay with your bean. Sorry to hear that your MIL is not waking up.
Still thinking of you and praying for the best.
It’s better than what we have in the states. Which doesn’t necessarily make the ordeal any easier, does it?
I’d be just like CH with the wigglebean pix. Thanks for checking in with all that’s going on.
I agree about our healthcare. While I’ve never had over the top exemplary service at a hospital, I’ve never had to pay for a tongue depresser or an emergency visit or to take home what already belongs to me in the first place because it came out of my body…a baby. That is exemplary in itself and we’re lucky to not have the stress of mega health bills in this country.
Glad your MIL is stable and hope she wakes up and says hi soon.
Also glad to hear about bairn number 3. Woo for two centimetres…you really know how to grow em CC!
Kerry, Im glad taht you got some extra sunshine in your day! My goodness my lil sis is almost ready to pop, only three weeks left I think… I hope that everything goes nice and calm for you all now!
People care about you because you are a good friend. Plain and simple!
Ultrasounds are SO cool.!
I have surprise news on my blog!
Health care is very important for everyone and the cost is very high, so it’s better to work towards a health life. We can’t do anything when some unexpected health problems show up.
It’s good to know that you have nice friends…who helped you when you had bad times…thats really great…people rarely talk about good stuff about internet …
