Yesterday was quite a full day for the Crunches.
Nana kept me company and helped out with all the day’s goings on.
She came with me to Caity’s Intro to Preschool Sports…it is always trying as Caity goes shy and refuses to try anything unless she is holding our hands.
Then we picked up Adam and headed across town to meet yet another Pediatrician. While Adam and I went in, Nana Crunch took Caity for a walk along South Granville and treated her to Starbucks.
This doctor was very glamorous and no nonsense. I don’t know if I really agree with her about child rearing …but maybe I AM wishy washy.
Would you lock your child in the room for a time out?
Would you lock the bedroom door at night to keep the child in?
I feel weird about that.
The best idea for him was to do a good behavior reward calendar. Where he would get a star for each day in the week of good stuff and then get some sort of compensation at the end.
It would work as a goal focus for both of us and give him something to think about before he totally wigs out. Wigging out is usually his first reaction.  He will dissolve into tears and anger before you even KNOW there is something wrong.
So we will do that.
She is also going to get him into see a pediatric ophthalmologist so we can start figuring out why he gets so many headaches.
I tend to equate the headaches with hunger as he does forget to eat and you have to nail him down to eat something other than a light snack.
He started to get headachey last night. To the point that he threw up all his dinner….right outside the restaurant!
So we shall see.
When we came home yesterday it was about 4 pm already…and to my delight found Crunchy Husband outside with Callie. He rarely thinks about things like that…he said Callie had been campaigning all afternoon by standing behind his chair clutching her squeaker toy.
The neighbour had brought out her Jack Russell who is Callie’s best friend and they were happily running around together and all the kids were out.
So there we were for another two hours….no wonder Adam had a headache.
And THEN because I couldn’t even think about cooking and CH was having an urge for Fish and Chips, we headed out to one of the few good places to get fish and chips and while Caity cleaned her plate, Adam moaned and picked and then barfed. And THEN wanted Ice Cream and felt much better, thank you very much!
Today I get my hair cut. Â AAAAND coloured. Â Â I cannot wait.
Here is the ‘Before.’
I will hopefully have a GLAM ‘after’ pic.
Note the closet behind me with NO DOORS! Is my house not SWANK!!?? I keep meaning to do some sort of curtain, but that would mean deciding on a colour scheme for the room…and we are so not there yet.
This is SOME of my shopping from Wednesday……
Note the unmade bed!
I had a pic of ALL THE SHOES…but now cannot find it.
Ok ladies….more confessions…..I dress UP to go to the hair salon.
Why you ask? Because I don’t want a haircut for a frumpy over the hill housewife.
I want a cut that reflects the cutting edge style queen that is hidden underneath the mom wear.
Not to mention she is probably young enough to be my daughter and no doubt thinks I am from another planet.
Do you?

Do I think you are from another planet? Is Canada a planet?

I also dress up a little to go to the beauty salon! I love that other women do this too. I think most women do!
Happy Mum’s Day to you, and I hope you are treated as a queen for the day!
Cheers,
jane

I don’t dress up to go to the hair salon. I have to take both my kids with me so for me it’s a case of ‘get in quick, get out quick’ and I come home with wet hair and dry it myself – how sad is that? lol!
I wouldn’t be locking my kid in the room either – I know people who do it but I won’t, and if that makes me wishy washy – well, so be it.

If by dress up, you mean a bra and clean clothes? yes.
lock the bedroom door at night to keep the child in YES! For Luke when he was about 2 1/2 I put one of those door knob covers on the inside of the bedroom door. He was sneaky- I was afraid he would get out of the house. Because he did once!
