Really, isn’t it? Perspective, outlook, glass half empty and all that stuff.
Yeeeeeah.
This weekend was a bitch.
My husband said that at least he was handling the stress and worry quite well.  I said “Nooo, you have not. Well, actually TODAY (Sunday) you did. Saturday? Not so much.”
He was man enough to agree.
Today’s activities all hang in the balance while we wait for a call from Aurora’s surgeon. He is supposed to tell us the pro’s and con’s (Aurora will probably DIE without the surgery) of the colon surgery and the costs and complications, etc.  We also need to know WHEN Aurora will get the surgery….yesterday the were observing him as they had concerns about anemia and his reaction to the anesthetic.
Despite the enormous expense, we have already really decided to go along with the surgery. We are used to messy dirty cats here anyway. We have already agreed that we will make adjustments around the house to help Aurora out. Crunchy Husband has also decided to go and get the car loan and his credit card debt consolidated into one loan or line of credit and that will clean up the debt part of all this.
Both of us are more galvanized than ever to find more money streams. So people! Hellooooo!!!?? Hire me! I can actually write better than you see on this blog….I can actually edit my work (GASP!) and have written tech reviews for accountants, marketing for retail, sponsorship packages, and trade show booklets. Crunchy Husband IS a professional writer. He can turn his hand to just about anything and had done interviews, op/ed, comics, scripts…you name it. AND he was in Vogue’s Hollywood issue once….a looooong time ago.
Ok…begging finished.
Back to today. All errand running and or joining parent groups (because some people think I am a bad parent who needs counseling!) and checking out this kick ass Computer Armoires from Craigslist depend on what is happening with the cat.
I am supposed to go to this parent group thing this afternoon….which would be ‘fun’ and the kids get to hang at a new playgroup.  But, the timing now sort of sucks. The armoire is in Surrey. I need to figure how to get out there and then suck up to my brother in law to borrow his pick up!
There is also groceries and post offices to visti….the list of fun goes on!
I think the sunshine is helping our attitude though. Despite all the hassles and emotions this weekend, I did get Caity’s room cleaned out. She now HAS a room.  I did get the backyard cleaned out to the point that we can actually SEE our patio and use the BBQ.
The spring also means a lot of birthday and event planning at the House of Crunch. At the end of April we have Crunchy Husbands birthday. He usually doesn’t want to do much, but we will probably have a dinner out. I have ordered his geek gift already.
The end of May brings Adam’s birthday. We are in a bit of a conflict about this. Because so is the 30th Anniversary of the ‘real’ Star Wars.
Do we combine both events? Is it ok to force your four year old to have a Star Wars party?  He wants to go to Chuck E. Cheese…but I think the nearest one is miles from here, so that limits who he can invite – which might be a good thing.
Last year we rented the community centre and had like 20 pre schoolers going berserk.
Crunchy Husband feels we must do SOMETHING to celebrate how old we and this movie now are.  So now we must plan THIS party at our tiny and messy abode. I am thinking Star Wars movies on all day, BBQ and hauling out The Star Wars Cook Book and impressing our guests with my nerdiness!
Caity’s Birthday is at the end of June. This clashes with some friend of my mother in law’s kids ONE YEAR OLD EXTRAVAGANZA….clowns, music, etc.  Caity has one friend!
What will we do!?
So……we are not going to freak about stuff. We will attempt to go with the flow. I have my fingers crossed for poor Aurora and that we can get our acts together to accomplish as much as we can today!  Come on armoire!
Crunch out.

I’ll keep my fingers crossed for Aurora… and your work prospects. Life can really throw you a curve ball sometimes. But I think, with your attitude and sense of humor, you’re up for it. Hang in there!

Best of luck to kitty and your finances. We would do the surgery too.

I wish you all the best Crunchy. I hope that everything goes well for Aurora.

Best wishes for a successful surgery for Aurora and if I needed some professional writing done, I would hire you! Hey – could you do a nice letter to all of my creditors and convince them that I am too poor to pay them but am a really nice person and should be given amnesty on all of my outstanding payments? Now THAT would be well worth paying for and then some! Hmm, does that fall under Science Fiction or Fantasy???

I had a sick kitty that we spent a small fortune on, too. Girl, can I relate. Good luck and keep us posted. This is one of those things that you just have to keep reminding yourself that “things work out.” They always do. And if it is any consolation, I think you made the right decision for Aurora!!

Well, wishing you best of Miracles with the kitty situation. That is a real bummer for poor kitty. Good luck with all the party planning also. See ya around

Poor kitty.
Sounds like someone needs an enema…
do they do kitty enemas???

Wow. Even by UK standards that is an expensive bit of treatment. We once blew £500 on two nights overnight observation because our cat seemed a bit “down”. I am still gnashing my teeth at that one. I have to keep my miserliness from our cat or he will take another shit on my pillow – his traditional method of reminding me who is boss when I try balancing my financial security with his quality of life. Good luck to Aurora.

Awwww, keeping my fingers crossed for Aurora!
Hey and I finally loaded your blog into my feed reader. I can keep up now!
