Disney’s The Little Mermaid First Time on Blue-ray

The Little Mermaid

In all honesty, I cannot think of a time when my youngest has actually seen the movie, until now, with the review copy of the Diamond Edition on Blue-ray  that we received today.  HOWEVER, Ariel is her and has always been her favourite princess.   The Ariel ride was her absolute favourite at Disneyland too, and it had to be Ariel toys she picked for a treat .   She also almost fainted in a total panic when Snow White introduced her to Ariel.

So there you go.  Mermaids.  Mermaids done in traditional animation too.  No 3D or computers involved.  Mermaids and singing crabs are what the kids are still liking.  There are catchy tunes that Adam and Caity said they have never forgotten even though they weren’t even born when it was first released.   It has joined the pantheon of Disney Classics.  Ariel is here to stay as are her fishy friends.

Tara and the Mermaid

“Ariel (voiced by Jodi Benson), is a free-spirited mermaid, who is off on the adventure of a lifetime with her best friend, the adorable Flounder (voiced by Jason Marin), and the reggae-singing Caribbean crab Sebastian (voiced by Samuel E. Wright) at her side. But it will take all of her courage and determination to make her dreams come true—and save her father’s beloved kingdom from the sneaky sea witch Ursula (voiced by Pat Carroll).

Bonus Features: All-New Music Video; @ Disney Animation; Disney Intermission; Deleted Character; The Real Little Mermaid: Live Action Reference Model; Part of Her World: Jodi Benson’s Voyage To New Fantasyland; Howard’s Lecture; Classic DVD Bonus Features”

The DVD will be in stores October 1st.
