Choosing Your Dream Bathroom Vanity

August 3, 2013 by Kerry Sauriol 1 Comment

We are long-term renters. This means that we don’t have much say in how our bathroom looks or works.  However this does not stop us having an opinion on what sort of set up and designs work for imagined family home we might one day own.   Thus when scoping out design shows or open houses we tend to cast a critical eye on the choices they made when it came to their bathroom vanities.

Modern Bathroom

As you can imagine pretty much any bathroom vanity that you have an actual CHOICE in is probably going to be better than the one we currently have.   With ONE bathroom for five people, storage space is at a premium.   I still pine for the 70’s era vanity that was in our 2nd apartment.  Two sinks and cupboard AND drawer space for ALL MY STUFF.  It made me very happy.

But functionality is not all that we look for when designing our perfect bathroom.  The design has to fit our style.  Be it contemporary, modern, traditional, companies like Modern Bathroom give you an amazing selection to choose from.     If you are one of those lucky people blessed with more than one bathroom, your style and functionality needs will be different for your guest bathroom compared to say our master suite bathroom or the children’s bathroom.

My bathroom would be all about space for my makeup and so forth, good lighting for the mirror and tidy discrete plugs for my electric toothbrush.   I hate all those cords.   The thought of a bathroom JUST for my kids makes me giddy.  That bathroom would have a vanity that was easy to clean, with plenty of storage and durable.   Being able to choose the types of counter materials like acrylic, stone, porcelain, etc., all depends on the traffic that bathroom will see. You want your investment to last a long time.

If you are blessed with picking your bathroom vanity, take these key points into consideration to stop yourself being overwhelmed by choice:

  • Size
  • Traffic Type
  • Personal Style
  • Home Style
  • Functionality

Go forth on your search and be sure to share with me what you have picked, as for now, I will have to live vicariously through your and your design adventures.
