I WISH my kids could do this…
Each summer during the months of July and August, the Aquarium offers AquaCamps to children entering grades K-8 in the fall. AquaCamps provide children with a hands-on learning experience about local and exotic animals, lifecycles, ecosystems and sustainability. Through activities, animal observations and arts and crafts, they learn all about the wonders of aquatic life. During the 4-5 days the children spend at the aquarium, they learn lessons that support their own classroom curriculum.
The afternoon at the Beluga experience that I gave my son for his birthday one year was amazing and eye opening. What an incredible experience these camps must be for children to learn to love and appreciate our ocean creatures.
Vancouver Aquarium AquaCamps – Coming this Summer
Looking for an exciting and eye-opening way for your children to enjoy their summer vacation? Children can experience the Aquarium in a whole new way during our July and August summer AquaCamps program. Through hands-on activities, arts and crafts, animal observations and gallery tours, children can learn all about the wonders of aquatic life. Also, new this year for students in grades 4-8 is a five-day camp with a sleepover and field trip!
Many of the lessons provided support the lesson plans offered to students in their classrooms. The Vancouver Aquarium fosters an engaging and positive environment, which encourages students to actively learn about aquatic ecosystems, sustainability, life cycles and much more.
