Find Out Which Foods Contain Which Vitamins for a Healthier Lifestyle

Everybody knows the importance of getting your vitamins and minerals, but not everybody gets those vitamins and minerals. Whether it’s because of diet habits, or simply not knowing what vitamins one should get, many people just don’t get the vitamins they need. While it’s important to take supplements from places like Medix Select, it’s also important to know what foods give you what types of vitamins, and to make sure you incorporate those foods into your diet. Check out below for some common vitamins and minerals that most people don’t get enough of, and in what kinds of foods you can find them.

Calcium
Calcium is important, both for growing kids and adults, because of its role in bone strength and growth. Calcium doesn’t stop there, though; it also helps reduce blood clotting, muscle contraction, and it helps transmit nerve signals.

As you probably already know, the main source of calcium for many people is milk. But it’s also found in other foods, like yogurt, fortified cereal, spinach, and different hard cheeses. Most dairy products have calcium in them, so try to get some more dairy in your diet to make sure you’re getting enough calcium.

Fiber
Fiber is an important mineral that many people just don’t get enough of. Fiber helps with digestion and maintaining good blood sugar levels, but it also helps reduce the risk of heart disease. It’s necessary to get enough fiber to ensure your daily digestive habits remain on tract!

Thankfully, fiber is found in a lot of common foods. Many people get their fiber from bran cereal, since it is packed full of fiber. But fiber is also found naturally in a lot of legumes, like peas, lentils, and a ton of different types of beans. Fiber is also naturally found in fruits and vegetables, so eating some fruit as a mid afternoon snack will ensure everything stays regular.

Potassium
Potassium fuels the body with natural energy, so aside from its importance in controlling blood pressure, it can help you get through the day without any sugary energy drinks. Potassium also reduces the risks of painful and dangerous kidney stones, which are no fun. Additionally, potassium plays an important role in maintaining normal fluid balances in the human body.

Potassium is found in a ton of natural foods, and bananas are filled to the brim with healthy potassium. Sweet potatoes also have a lot of the mineral, as does tuna, yogurt, and soybeans.

Zinc
If you’ve been feeling sick lately, getting zinc can help you knock back that cold and get over it quickly. Zinc does a lot to make sure the immune system is running soundly, which means it’s important to get a lot of it. It also plays an important role in reproduction.

Zinc is common in different types of meats, most commonly red meat. Many different types of seafood are full of zinc too. Vegetarians can get their daily dose of zinc by eating zinc-fortified cereals.
