Know What You’re Getting Before You Buy Expensive Sheets

For some odd reason, sheets tend be very expensive. Sheets typically range from the mid twenty-dollar range all the way up to hundreds of dollars. They’re just sheets, so why is this? Sheets are essentially just a rectangular shape of fabric that fits over your bed. Well, it turns out that the width of the loom for sheets usually requires expensive machinery, leading to expensive sheets. Don’t just go to the store and buy a random pair of sheets since you’ll likely be dropping some serious cash on them, do some research to find sheets that will make your nights more comfortable. You’ll likely be sleeping on the sheets you buy for years to come, so make sure you choose the type of sheet that fits exactly what you want.

Cotton Sheets

Cotton sheets are the most common type of sheet that you’ll find, and are a very popular type of dorm bedding. Cotton sheet prices vary dramatically because of the different kinds of threat counts you’ll find them in. The thread count essentially represents the quality, and the highest quality bed sheets are known as Egyptian cotton. Cotton sheets are easy to take care of, as you can just toss them in the wash with similar colors. Thread counts range from about 400 up to 1500, and is great for people who sometimes sweat at night because this type of sheet is very breathable and comfortable.

Silk Sheets

If you’re willing to drop some serious cash on sheets, you’ll be rewarded with some serious comfort. Silk sheets are very soft, and provide an interesting sensation that seems to warm you and cool you at the same time. Silk sheets are also commonly recommended for people with allergies, as they are hypoallergenic. Recognize that you will be paying a lot more for silk sheets, but you’ll be comfortable sleeping with them throughout the entire year.

Flannel Sheets

Many people switch to flannel sheets during the colder months, as they typically are warmer than all other types of sheets. You can find flannel sheets available in both wool and cotton varieties. Flannel sheets will no doubt keep you warm, and aren’t measured by thread count like traditional cotton sheets. Instead, they’re measured by weight, and the heavier the sheet the higher quality and more expensive it will be. It’s great to store away a set of flannel sheets in your house to use once the cold nights arrive, to stay comfortable and warm throughout the night.

Polyester Sheets

Polyester sheets are more of a budget sheet, as they usually aren’t as comfortable or soft as the other types of sheets. Polyester sheets also might trigger allergies for people with allergies, so they may not be a good choice for those who are allergenic. They are much cheaper than all the other types of sheets, making them a good choice for college students or people on a budget. These are the sheets you usually find in hotels.
