Crunchy Carpets

Clean socks are a privilege, not a right

Nowhere to Hide

April 9, 2010 by Kerry Sauriol 3 Comments

So it is a beautiful day here..cool but sunny and pretty.

I should be rushing outside with the family this afternoon…and we will get them out on their bikes and get the dog a run..but I would still rather be somewhere dark and quiet.

I was chuckling to myself the other day.  I had finally managed to sneak upstairs to my bed while Tara napped  and the kids were playing video games and I figured I had about 40 minutes before I needed to think about dinner.    In walks Caity.  She wants to ‘play’ in my room.  But when I told her to play quietly, that novelty soon wained.  So then she wanted to ‘cuddle.’  This meant snuggle up to me and discuss how to catch fairies.

Then she got fed up with that and headed downstairs to see what her brother was up to.

Phew.  I pick up my book.  Again.

Then the dog arrives.

Then one of the cats arrive.

Then I have one large cat on my chest and one large dog head on my lap.   Both demanding petting and attention.

Put book down again.

No naps or reading for me.

For someone who had a rather solitary and quiet childhood and for someone who does actually enjoy their own company….this whole large family things still boggles me.

You are never alone in this house.

Ever.

That is what love is like in this house.
