Crunchy Carpets

Clean socks are a privilege, not a right

OUTBREAK!

November 9, 2009 by Kerry Sauriol 4 Comments

Where is Dustin Hoffman in a hazmat suit when you need him!!!??

No monkeys but POSSIBLY pigs.  Yep..looks like some sort of H1N1y flu has hit the House of Crunch.

(I don’t know why the photo is sideways, it isn’t in my files!)

Adam got sick in the wee hours of Thursday with a fever and headache.   Fever spiked at almost 102 Thursday night.   He has maintained a high temp and is enjoying a lovely cough and severe body aches.

The 811 HealthLink people are sick of us!

Pat started to feel bad yesterday and is hiding with fever and headache etc.

Caity had a headache just before dinner that transformed into a mega fever two hours later.

I feel like total crap but like all the mothers out there know…WE can’t be sick.  So we carry on.  We stagger on making dinners, and getting medicine and running baths, and getting drinks and feeding dogs and cats and carrying on running the house.

Seriously…for us mothers…sickness is a luxury.   We don’t get to crawl into bed.  We don’t get to give in.

We sit here and comfort everyone else and make sure they are all set for the night.  We wash dishes, we grocery shop, we give hugs and kisses even when we know that just spreads the germs because that is what moms do.

Tara hasn’t shown any real signs yet apart from being more fussy than usual.  I have been trying to keep the kids away from her, but we have a small house and they love her.

I have been washing EVERYTHING.

Lysol is my best friend.

I think I lysoled the dog.

I will die if Tara gets it.

I don’t want her sick.

She had a cold already….that was panic inducing enough for me.

Fingers crossed all, fingers crossed.

Oooh, hope you are all better soon.

I would also suggest a grocery delivery service, or a meal delivery service. There’s a place near City Hall that does that (Super Suppers, I think). Safeway will deliver groceries.

    Fingers crossed on your behalf!

And I can so relate – I don’t get really sick anymore, because I don’t have time. So I just plow through. What else can you do?

Well I am sorry to hear the bug has hit your household. I am now into day 13 of the headache that hit Manhattan….it starts off like a sinus headache and then just progresses from there…I never had the high fevers, bit I did have the achy muscles, the sweats, the headache and yes let’s not forget the vomitting…..I believe the H1N1 predominantly hits you with the high fevers, cough and the sweats….I hope it leaves your house sooner rather than later……
