Clean socks are a privilege, not a right

March Madness

March 10, 2009 by Kerry Sauriol 2 Comments

We will get the obligatory photo of OMG SNOW IN MARCH photo right here.  It is about 2 now, and the stuff is melting…roads are clear…tobagganing dreams being thwarted as we speak.

Thank God.

I am hoping that fun at school was enough to satisfy the snow needs of my children.

It is March.  I am done with snow.  I do not want to ‘play’ in it.  I took the dog out this am.  I walked the kids to school in it.

That is as good as it gets in my opinion.

Daylight Savings has totally messed us all up.  The grownups more than the kids so far.

ALMOST slept in this am, and not accomplished NEARLY as much as I had hoped this morning.

Oh well.

I am still  traumatized by yesterdays birthday debacle.  Which really, I raved enough about on Twitter.  But seriously….totally weird.

And the birthday girl was so fracking rude.  Ignored Adam.  Ran from him when he want to say hi to her in the pool and really, she could not care LESS that ANY of her friends had showed up, and she kept helping herself to bits of the cake with her hands.  And the mom wondered why we didn’t want any more.

And only THREE from her class showed up.  Which is really weird.   Apparently she invited everyone.  Maybe they all backed out when they found out they were supposed to PAY for the swimming part of the party.

I hadn’t brought my bathing suit because I was told there was other parents who were going to be in the pool.   I was not into seeing how my large 5 month preggers body fitted into my regular and only TWO piece bathing suit.

There was NOBODY there I knew.  NOBODY.  So I had to keep yelling at Adam to stay close to the edge.  Thank goodness he found the slide to be more fun than anything and at least THAT I could stand at the bottom and wait for him.

The party part had more adults than kids….and us eating some snacks they had brought.  Then the cake.  Then the very few gifts that she did get.

Again..mumbled thanks.  No appreciation or enthusiasm.

It was so weird.

2.5 hours of my life down the loo.  Even Adam said he wished he had been bad enough to be kept at home instead of suffering through it all.

I’m with you on the snow!! Even I’ve had enough, and I usually love it.

The party thing is weird too… I think you’re right as to why the lack of guests. A similar thing happened to a former co-worker of mine: her cousin had his 30th birthday catered, and tried selling tickets to his friends. Not many people showed up. Oops.
