Crunchy Carpets

Clean socks are a privilege, not a right

The Parenting Continues

February 27, 2009 by Kerry Sauriol 3 Comments

It is a cool but sunny (so far) Friday here in Crunchville.

Friday mornings always feel a bit weird here..what with Adam getting out early from school..there is only really two hours of ‘me’ time….not enough to really chillax, but enough to putter about and get some stuff done.  And then it is lunches and pickings up and entertaining hysterical children on “FAMILY FUN FRIDAY!”

I am just happy that I am feeling okay…so far.  I ended up with a migraine last night.  But I think it was from doing really repetitive stuff with excel spreadsheets in the afternoon and bending my head down over the keyboard.

The sore neck is still their and I can feel the headache threatening..I just pray I can stave it off.

I am supposed to be seeing ‘The Stone of Destiny’ tonight with my mom and am really looking forward to it!

I am really looking forward to a non child night.  Really.  Really looking forward to that.

Mommy needs a break.

The kid birthday invites continue…but you may have noticed..I only talk about ADAM and HIS invites..Caity has had none.

Now she is just in preschool, but I do ‘hear’ about preschoolers busy with birthday parties and playdates and that the mom’s all seem to ‘hang.’

Well, as much LOVED as my daughter is at preschool, nobody hangs with me and she has had ONE birthday party invite which she had to miss.

Oooooh..therapy here we come.

I think part it is that we have such a mixed group at the preschool….it is VERY multicultural.     A lot of the parents really don’t speak English well at all and I honestly haven’t met most of the parents because it is usually the grandparents dropping off and picking up the kids.

The preschool is also a daycare and the kids are all on different schedules too.   Not to mention it is a school for special needs kids.

All the parents seem very busy and very focused.

This has saved me a fortune in girly birthday parties.

I have a feeling this will all change come September when she hits Kindgergarten.

I will also mention that Adam seems to receive birthday party invites mostly from GIRLS…hmmmmm.

According to one lady today, her daughter talks about him all the time.  He is the bees knees to many of the girls in his class.

He was even given two phone numbers the other day.

He can’t remember his own number.

My daughter is in a special needs class and you’re right, once Kindergarten hits, the invits will pick up, until then, I would just have a mommy daughter date when big stud brother is off wooing the chicks!

My 4-year-old hasn’t received any birthday invites either, other than the one through my friend (whose daughter doesn’t even attend her school). I don’t read too much into it, if anything like you I view it as letting me off the hook (at least for now).
