Crunchy Carpets

Clean socks are a privilege, not a right

And Life Takes

September 26, 2008 by Kerry Sauriol 2 Comments

Found out today that they are dissolving Adam’s grade one class.  Once teacher has (we think) already been let go and the other one is being moved to a higher grade.

His class will now (on Monday) be split between the KINDERGARTEN class and the Grade TWO class.

So you are going to split up friends.

You are taking them away from teachers that they really like.

And you are either going to place them with younger or older kids.

Balls.

As hard as it may seem, split classes are really not as bad as you might think. In either case the kids do get their learning outcomes met and they also get a chance to flourish in a multi-age classroom. It sucks that they didn’t do this right from the start and it is almost a month in and they will have to change routines. That being said once you and Adam get used to it I am sure it will be ok for everyone. I hope this helps. :)(The split classes I have taught actually do better on a lot of fronts including the social aspects.)

Well it does seem rather late to be splitting classes….but with that being said….having had all my girls in split classes at one time or another….I think all in the class benefit from it…the older students could help the younger ones..and the younger ones helped the olders be more patient…and they all benifit when they worked as a team…..
