She probably won’t read this. I think she said she feels like she is intruding to read my blog.
I don’t mind. Crunchy Husband reads it, as do a few of my ‘in real life’ friends.
Today is my mom’s birthday.  I won’t say which one. Suffice it to say I think she looks great, acts great and is a fine example to us all. She is a ‘young’ nana.
2007 was a sucky year for my mom too. She jumped into to help with much last minute babysitting, pretty much from the get go. She has spent a lot of time in fear for my health, safety and life.  She has watched me carted out by paramedics twice. She worried about cancer once. She worried about my mental and physical health during the pregnancy and stood witness, and held, and mourned my little baby boy.
She has sacrificed. Kept quiet when she thought it wise. Spoken out when she felt it was needed. She has cried with me and for me. She let me be a little girl again who just needed her mom.
She has washed dishes. Fed grandchildren. Fed OTHER children.   Stocked my pantry.
The list goes on.
And it WILL go on too. When does one NOT need your mom?
I love having my mom so close by. I am so lucky. I try to not be selfish about it and take advantage of her availability. But I love knowing that her company is there for me. Her laugh and her comfort.
She has ALWAYS been my sounding board.
While we dream of CH and I buying a house for our menagerie. Â With this comes the ‘gulp’ horror that mom would no longer be two minutes away. Â That she wouldn’t be there for morning cups of coffee and driving the kids happily to school. Â That she wouldn’t be there for a quick cup of tea or a trip to the grocery store.
Things would have to be planned again. Â You can see how spoiled I am.
But mom and I have always been close. It was just the two of us for so long. We went through a lot together. Have held each other up. Have had a great deal of fun together.
Because she is more than a mom. We really get along. We make each other laugh.
She puts up with a lot from me. Â She is amazingly patient.
She is amazingly kind.
You see this with the HUGE amount of friends she has who genuinely love and care for her. She is a well loved and liked woman.
So, today is her birthday.
The kids have made cards for her and I promised Adam that he could pick out some ‘treats’ for her at the bakery after school. We will get together and have tea and treats.
Mom and I are hoping to go to a movie together tonight too.
Just like old days.
Happy Birthday Mom.
