Crunchy Carpets

Clean socks are a privilege, not a right

Life is Strange…

July 10, 2007 by Kerry Sauriol 3 Comments

I never ever pictured myself sitting at home surrounded by kids.   I never EVER imagined saying yes to looking after someone else’s kids.  Yet here I am.

I always wanted kids of my own, but have never been a kid person, if that makes any sense.   Yet here I am.

I was told by a neighbour yesterday, that she couldn’t imagine anyone better for the job (childcare) than I.   Obviously the image I project is of a far better person than the reality.

Yesterday was a trying day, but mainly due to my OWN kids.  Adam is a bit insecure and upsets by this new arrangement and his behavior has reflected it.  We were at odds from the moment he woke up.

But I survived and so did the kids.

Adam is in preschool this am, so (sadly) it is a lot quieter.   They have been playing very nicely together and generally seem happy hanging out and keeping cool.   Adam just can’t play quietly.  He has to have an audience.  He has to be as loud as possible.  He has to complain about every injustice.  The amount of tattle telling amongst them yesterday was amazing.

I am trying to be less snarky today.  Wish me luck.

At least HALF the day is peaceful.

I can’t say I am a person who DELIGHTS in the presence of children.  I am a  bit of a loner and do enjoy my down time.  I keep wondering who THIS domesticated woman.  Spending her days at home or parks and coming up with snacks and ideas to keep them all occupied.

At least I am saving money with being at home so much.  I am on a tight budget in order to have enough for the BlogHer Conference (17 days and counting).  Not to mention Adam wanting me to bring him BACK something.

So here I am…..stay at home mom.

Thank goodness for blogging.

Your Adam and my BC should play together. The audience thing… it near kills me every day. I always say, Come on, can’t you play alone just for a few minutes??

Have you ever seen the movie Shirley Valentine? It’s on DVD now and I bet you would identify.
