No! Really!
Despite my son’s growing mania and emotional freak out (NOOOOOO!Says the Paediatrician, HE doesn’t have ADHD!—-Riiiight) sessions, and the general wearing down of one’s sense and defences….we have actually had a fun weekend.
Let’s also not forget the sulking sore cat that we have had to attack twice a day for his medication.
Crunchy Dad had a play date yesterday afternoon and ended up at a fun fair at Landsdowne Mall in Richmond. Came back all giddy.
While he did this, the kids and I dyed the eggs and won’t talk about that again and then played out side for quite awhile.
Upon the return of C.D. and his pal, the craziness erupted again. It was the witching hour and there had to be showing off done. Adam was also mad because we had been laughing too hard at jokes he did not get while watching Buck Rodgers. Sorry kid, you had to be there.
After dinner I chased the grownup boys out to see ‘Grindhouse,’ which they highly recommend. Adam and I settled down to watch The Ten Commandments. That spawned many interesting discussions.
“Mom, is this the same God that had the kid who was deaded by those guys?”
“Yes, Adam, but this was a long time before that.”
“Mom, why are the ‘gyptians bad? Don’t they like that God?”
“Weeeeeeel they sort of had their own Gods and so they didn’t really believe in what Moses told them.”
“Mom, how many Gods are there?”
Sigh
“Well, some groups of people believe in just the one God, and worship him in different ways. Some other groups have different ideas. Some have LOTS of Gods. Nobody really knows who is right.”
“I think I know God Mom. I think he is real.”
“Well that is fine dear. If you like believing in him and if you feel he is real to you and your heart…there is nothing wrong with that.”
OUCH!
This morning we had a mini easter egg hunt and then headed to Nana’s for brunch.  These meals are bizarre….mom’s house is all nice and tidy. The table set. We grownups eat a nice meal and the kids twitch and yell and don’t eat and then leave the table. Boy I raise em good!
We bribed Adam with the deal that if he ate SOME of his brunch, and that if he could refrain from SHOUTING or SCREAMING or torturing his sister for a bit that we would take him out for a surprise.
Well he didn’t really, but we had to get out of the house anyway, so we headed to that fun fair.
Now for a traveling MALL fair, it was wicked. They totally catered to families and had a load of rides for small kids. Way more than our PNE ever does.
Caity has never really done rides before so we were very interested to see how she would do.
She is also a very contemplative child when faced with a new adventure. Plays her cards very close to her chest and does not want to bother with chit chat. She is focused on what is going on and taking it all in.
But watching the joy spread across her little face as she experienced a fun ride….she even handled the FRONT seat of the mini roller coaster at the end.
Adam was a hoot. Wanted speed and fear…but also new his limitations. Some things scared the bejeezus out of him. But he loved the mini ‘hellevator’ thing they had and had a riot on the bumper cars with his dad and he and I went on the Zipper thingie.
We had a great afternoon.
We finished the evening off with Adam throwing up his dinner before bed.
Aaaaaaaah.
Yay he did not throw up IN bed.
Happy Easter.
(ps. my kids never eat at their grandmothers either.. wha’ up with that?)
Great! It must be in the air! We had a pretty good Easter as well. Nice change of pace, eh??
Glad to hear your Easter was fun and filled with questions all parents dread. Our Easter was filled with candy and questions: If Jesus can come back from the dead then why cant grammie and grampie. *sigh*. It was weird that I seemed to run from the room at that point, but you snooze you lose in my book.
We had a fair, too, but it was too cold for us Southerners to stay out for an afternoon.
Glad he did not throw up on you!!!!
May favourite trick of Easter…
Spewing Chocolate vomit!!! Yum YUM!!!
you had a wild one didn’t you?? yay for no in bed vomit! *shudder*
