Nothing earth shattering.
The city engineer that looks after our housing dropped by yesterday to check out the mold.  I had to point out that we had cleaned it up, but had photos. He basically said that where the mold was located is classic in these houses and he doesn’t think it is in the drywall, but from the leaky roof.
So, they are not going to do anything about it. We are supposed to report it if it returns and that is it.
What the BIG plan is, supposedly, is that all the roofs will be replaced. But no date on that. They are also not going to fix our yard because they are planning on ripping up ALL of the complex and replacing all the pipes once and for all. Again, no date on this.
So you can see the next few months and our summer lined up can’t you?
They will wait till the warmer dryer weather and then we will have the whole summer with our yards and courts covered in mud and construction.
Bang goes the swimming pool, bang goes the kids running around outside and bang goes our backyard mud pit getting fixed up enough for us to use.
I am not impressed.
I love summer here. Everyone is out all day and all evening long. We have a huge blow up pool that we set up and the kids spend their days in there or out in the court with water fights or bikes.  We eat outside and play outside.
It won’t happen this time around.
Our choices are….stick it out. Transfer. Or suck it up and buy.
Aw Man! Does that ever suck! I sure feel for you – we woke up one summer morning (woken up by the doorbell at some ungodly hour) to a bunch of workmen saying they were here to replace the roof! (We were living in RCMP owned housing) The best part was we had dd’s birthday party that day and then a BBQ the next – both ruined. I was furious!
On the plus side, it only took them a few days, so maybe you’ll get lucky and won’t have to put up with it for long?
oh you poor little thing! mold? how awful!! you know that is our state flower here in florida. how dare it escape like that? just send it back honey and i’ll take care of it….
smiles, bee
I am so sorry to hear that Crunchy. You get one problem out of the way just to be hit by two more. Here’s hoping that they leave enough undisturbed ground for you to still be able to put up the pool this summer.
Ok, I’m envisioning you and your family with enough funds to buy a house that suits you and which has a perfectly good yard (or two), all in time for the summer fun. Picture it with me for 60 seconds a day, and I’m pretty sure you’ll get it. The technique has never failed me with things big (my son) or little (red cowboy boots). Even if the house doesn’t physically manifest for you, you will have learned how to take 60-second vacations, a skill which could be useful if your current vision for the summer comes true!
Hang in there, and come on down to the southwest for awhile if you need a rest from construction.
