CRUNCHY!
Well, sort of.
Today I was invited to take part in a little chit chat at CBC Radio One, about Gen-X parenting and ‘cool’ parenting and what makes THIS generation different from others.
I barely made it.  I hope I sound NORMAL. I woke up in the middle of the night with a horrendous migraine. Full blown, pain, nausea, cold sweats, etc.  And no medication.
Lay all night with cold clothes on my eyes WILLING it to go away.  It started to ease a bit when I was getting everyone up, but I couldn’t make any sudden movements nor see properly.
So I left a little early and whipped over to my moms to raid her medicinal stash.
Took half a pill and roared off downtown.
Traffic in downtown Vancouver sucks the big one. There is construction everywhere, so trying to find parking was NOT a good thing. I roared into the library parking lot and drove PAST the ticket dispenser and then couldn’t back up because of the moron drivers behind me. I say moron about them because how stupid are you to follow a driver who is clearly out of her freaking mind.  I then couldn’t open my door to walk back and get it because I was too close to the side. It took a few minutes for the attendant to figure it out.
He kindly stated the bleedin obvious to me, that indeed the ticket machine was back there. Â Thank you.
Drive all the way to the lowest level of parking hell to find a spot and then sprint up (can you sprint in an elevator?) to the main level and then try to find the street that I needed in between all the closed sidewalks and so on.
Seriously, I cannot believe I made it in time.
There was our representative ‘alterna’ mom waiting there too and she was very nice and very real. Â We sat down with the producer, Michelle, and after head sets were donned, were introduced to our middle of the road cool Dad from Montreal.
Then we sat down for a chat about parenting today. It was great fun and I think we could have gabbed for ever. As I said, I THINK I was supposed to be the anti hip parent there….but how can I be? Not saying I am cool or anything, but I don’t really fit into any ‘stereotype’ categories.  We are kidults. Will freely admit it.
I can’t tell you yet when it will be on the air. I will keep you posted though, and I think they also have those ‘podcast’ thingies on their web sites for those people who don’t listen to CBC.
I am feeling much better now. Even with the Wiggles blasting in the background. It is a horrible day and so I think there will be lots of dvd’s and playdoh type activities this afternoon.

Hey, I’m glad you had such a good time, after traffic, parking and a migraine… you are the epitome of a “Great Mom” if you can handle all that and hold your own on a TALK SHOW!!!
Michelle says
Woo-hoo! Now I can say I at least KNOW of someone who has the authority to comment on my child-rearing abilities. Hmmm…quick tell me, is this feeding them and bathing them and clean up after them supposed to be a never-ending circle? Cause I think I’m stuck and i don’t know how to get out. Teehee.
Congrats!
By the way, I was on the radio too, yesterday, on JRFM. I won 4 tickets to the Wiggles concert next weekend. Yeay for me (or more like Yikes for me, yeay for my anklebiters) 🙂
